I have a feeling that they may add Spell Creation

Post » Tue Aug 07, 2012 5:25 pm

Alright, remember back last June - October before Skyrim was released? Everyone seemed to want Crossbows and Spears... What happened? They added that as a DLC. Now, I have a feeling they may do the same with Spell Creation. Now, don't get me wrong, they are the game developers. Modders create better and high resolution Weapons and Armors (Thanks to Hothtrooper44 and his supporters). Modders also create Realism mods and what not with Bethesda's Creation Kit. Now, Bethesda can use their magic to create a Spell Creator for their next upcoming DLC. Personally, I think they pulled a Bioware or EA with adding something everyone wanted in a DLC instead of the Game itself. I personally don't care whether it comes in a later DLC, because I'll buy the DLC when it comes out on a separate disk with all the DLC's on it (More bang for your loonie, buck if you're Americano).

Also, just a question, didn't Todd say that he didn't want to add those weapons in because it would "clutter" up the game? And by clutter I mean add useless GiggerBaits (Gigabytes).

P.S. I ain't even mad, just hoping for Spell Creation.

I'd be kinda pissed off if they did actually, considering many people wanted it in vanilla and it has been in every TES game pretty much... So for them to go ahead and 'sell' it to us... Yeah..... No.

What's worse, not having spell creation, or having to pay for it?

I'm going to choose the lesser of two evils and take spell creation. Besides, I doubt they'd make a DLC that is designed around spell crafting, it'd just be a bonus feature.

I'm very disturbed also at their acts. Although, you never know, maybe a modder out their will take the Spell Creation and make a separate version to work with people without DLC's.... ;) Maybe I'm expecting too much from Modders, but we'll see.

If Hearthfire is indeed a DLC and focuses on magic and necromancers, it could be included in that along with a bunch of new spells to play with. I don't mind paying as long as it comes with a bunch of other goodies and places to explore.

To me it seems outright impossible to add spell creation to this game because the main magic system seem to be completely different than what we had before.

Spellcombinations, maybe, but I highly doubt that too...

As for the extra weapons, it's about being unique, I mean adding spears as just another two-handed weapon that just looks different is pointless. Like crossbows, they work differently than bows.

If they did, GOOD, but I doubt the traditional form of spell making arrives. Maybe they worked out the dual-wield combos.

Also, this is going to mess up the PC version due to all the additional spells by modders that never took spell-making/combining into account. Such a core game mechanic is never going to fit in to a game like Skyrim if thrown in so long after release. The consoles won't really have an issue, but putting in a "spellmaking" mechanic of any substantive depth on top of what already exists in a PC game full of spell mods is going to create a mess.

The only difference from what I've seen is that you have to hold magic in this game, whereas in the past magic had its own slot, independent from your hands.

Not really, because spell effects themselves are completely different.

An expansion featuring the Psyjic order could add spell creation...

... But I doubt they'll add it.

I don't think the structure is there for spell creation as such but there may be more spells & spell combinations available in the future DLC's, I sincerely hope they do.

I'm not holding my breath for anything of any magnitude but a step in the right magic direction may spur me on to play as a mage once again, In it's current guise magic in Skyrim is severely lacking in quality(imo) & needs a bit of style & complexity.

please oh please oh please... I would love spellmaking so much. A spell of uber-death on target for high level draugr/ dragons... or a frenzy spell that sends deathlords into a brawl with each other. Or being able to enhance other skills with restoration. Or wait for it... a useful master spell! The possibilities are endless!

I really wish bethesda wasn't so claustrophobic, having things that may be only slightly different just adds another choice and variety to the game. It doesn't have to all fit nicely into a logical little box.

Time to go sacrifice a goat or two to Sheogorath.

Not really, because spell effects themselves are completely different.

How so? They've added new spell types, such as continuous spells such as Flames but I don't see how that would complicate things. How hard would it be to mix Sparks and Fear? Or Healing Hands and Rally?

New spells, probably.....casting combos, possibly....spell creation, doubtful. The byword for this incarnation of TES is "simple" I doubt they will add spell creation, because it wouldn't be "simple"

Spell creation that would allow us to combine the detonation / shooting style of one spell (for example fireball) but give it new effects and a new visual explosion (for example lighting, with a chance to paralyze) would make the spell creation very nice.

But if it only adds the option to make a stronger fireball...

and creating dragons and there flight/movement animation was simple? I doubt bethesda will keep spellmaking out of tes for good they probably wanted it in from the begining but they got rid of it because it glitched the game or something maybe they'll put it back once they make sure it won't freeze your game or delete your saves or something.

Sorry...that wasn't the kind of simple I meant....more along the lines of making the players think too much. You know, like attributes. Spelling making would probably be to "spreadsheety"

Then why not make it work like enchanting? only certain spells can be put together.

I don't get why you "have a feeling" they're going to add in spell creation at this late date.

They never added spears. I'm more eager for spears to be honest.

And spears with spear animations would be far easier to add in at this point. Adding spell creation and balancing it with the rest of the game would be a far larger undertaking than any DLC they've ever done.

Spellmaking won't be added, they would have to overhaul the magic system for it tl work and thats not gonna happen. Spellmaking won't be back for awhile, if ever.

Its plausible they are holding over until a future expansion pack but that could just be wishful thinking on my part.

Also this spell system is not really different from past game there is just some new spell types an pretty animations and that has blinded people because of the fluff. The only two noteworthy changes is the dual casting and the charge and cast spells and all of that could fit into a new spell creation system.

I would love to see it in the next expansion pack.
