I've actually never heard of Anchorman before, is it similar to Network (from the 70s)? I really like that movie.

How can anyone dislike it? I have never met anyone that dislikes it. Surely you cold hearted, black souled cynics of internet can find an ounce of warmth for the tale of Ron Burgundy?

What specifically did you not like about it? I'm genuinely curious.

People don't understand humor. Will Ferrell is the greatest.

Funniest man alive. He could make a film about him brushing his teeth and I'd watch it.

I've met one person that likes it: my brother-in-law. He has a really unfunny sense of humour, so it makes sense. The only thing Will Ferrell was ever funny in was Stranger than Fiction.

The lack of any actual humour. The boring story. I don't remember a single thing about it other than that Will Ferrell wears a brown suit. Completely forgettable.

Never really been a big fan of comedy (movies, sitcoms, whatever). But the tripe that they've passed off as "comedy" in the last twenty years or so has been especially bad. Dislike Will Ferrell as well (makes sense, since he's part of modern "comedy").

Needless to say, the trailer for the original did less than nothing for me.

Why is it that people idealize a good movie/actor as best of all time?

Nobody has ever understood humor. What people find funny is so subjective that it's always odd to me when someone states as a fact that something is or isn't humorous. I realize people have always done that despite it being one of the least possible things to argue logically, but still.

More on topic, I saw Anchorman a long time ago and don't quite recall how it ended, but I don't remember it being a particularly open or sequel-needing situation. Hopefully for the movie's sake it's not too forced.

Wow, somebody carries a grudge really well. Not a particularly useful skill to have, unfortunately... There are quite a few other threads I've typed in today. You should track them down and laugh at me there, too. As you were.

I do like that rich mahogany quote. :D Maybe if someone else had delivered it, I'd have found it funny.

Fair enough, I know films are always subjective. I was just curious to hear people's reasons. I just can't get enough of Will Ferrell. His funny or die sketches are brilliant too.

I'm also wondering how the sequel will pan out. The first didn't really leave any room for a sequel. I guess we'll wait and see. :)

I forgot about his alcoholic baby landlord sketch. Okay, so I like Will Ferrel(l?) in two things: Stranger than Fiction, and "My Landlord is an Alcoholic Baby" (or whatever it's called).

I never said I dislike it, I just didn't find it funny. It's worth watching the first time, but it's not that great the first run let alone subsequent runs. But this is all in my personal opinion.

But the humor is not found until later viewings. Heck, I must have watched Talledega Nights 25 times alone and it still cracks me up. Anchorman I think might be 3 baker's dozens.

@Oof How can one have the audacity to laugh at that movie? Here Will Ferrell has his life hijacked by an omnipotent being that has no regard for his life, and all he can do is just yell out in pain and hope that someone will listen. Just thinking about it brings up a tear in my eye.
