Hearthfire Furnishing Glitch

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:54 pm

I got Faendal as my steward and asked him to furnish my armory for over 2000 gold or something, went in, nothing had changed . Did the same for my alchemy tower, no changes whatsoever ! The option seems to be glitched and you give all your money but you get nothing in exchange !

I think it takes time, every time I come back to my house some new furnishings have been added :)

I thought you could furnish the rooms yourself? Please don't tell me each room is furnished automatically like the standard houses in vanilla Skyrim!?

no its not automatic you can just choose to have all of the furnishings, in honesty the house looks slightly bare without the full funishings, with the main hall that is

But yeah i've just asked Aela to furnish my entry room and so far nothing

So it might not be on a timer at all, it might just be broken? hmm

I've got the same issue so far. Methinks it may be a bug.

But is your steward going to go get the raw materials? Maybe that is why it is taking so long. It is far easier just to do it yourself I think, certainly it seems to be quicker.

I could believe in this theory if my steward didn't just stand there like a lamppost for hours

IMO, it would be bad if the changes was instantly.. I like the idea that it actually takes time, just like it does with he house i assume.

That should be the player's choice , and that's why the function was intended in the first place I think

The changes are instant as near as I can tell. The steward doesn't go anywhere to get materials. They just magically appear. Check the chest outside.

This is why you shouldn't trust an AI or a basehead to furnish your house.

I'm the same paid the steward to furnish the main hall, armoury and trophy room. So far I have a fireplace and large dinning table in the hall. But in the armoury I only have a couple of vases on a shelf nothing else and the trophy room is still bare. I then asked the steward to decorate the entry hall and I got told I can't afford the 1000 coins needed for it even though I'm carrying 1.7 million on the hip. I also spotted the steward mining the iron ore next to your house so I'm not sure if it does take a long time to get your house decorated if you pay to get it done. But some answers from bethesda would be nice to know on this subject.

Only one of my three houses properly upgraded when I paid the steward to furnish the place. It was the one near Morthal, if I remember correctly. I don't intend to use any of the homes, so it doesn't bother me, but it feels odd having a fully staffed house, complete with bard, but no furniture. I don't feel like making my own furniture for a house that I'm not going to be using, however.

I already paid for the furnishings so I'm not going to bother making them myself. I'm pretty passive and lenient when it comes to bugs in Skyrim, but this is probably one of the dumber ones I've encountered. I can't even buy the Falkreath plot because I killed someone in the longhouse for a quest, so I'm labeled as "unliked" to the Jarl.

I had the same experience with Lakeview Manor near Falkreath. Even waited 72 hours but no changes. So I'm making my own stuff now.

Also having this issue at the Pale house.
Bought small house, furnished (it only gave me a table, 2-3 chairs, and some food on the table.
Bought the rest of the upgrades, changed small house to entry way, furnished it all...

And, amongst a cellar, library, entry way, bedroom, and storage room, I have three chairs, a small table of food, a fireplace with two shelves and some pots, and then a bedroom with only two shelves and some pots. This is ALL of the furniture - no bed, no other chairs, no lanterns/torches/chandeliers, nothing.

Think my steward mighta skimmed some of that money of the top before buying my furnishings.

I think you actually have to leave the area and return. I waited for days outside the house, and no furnishings appeared. Then I fast traveled away and back, and I suddenly had a table.

I fast traveled to Riften and then back. That's when all the little stuff I mentioned appeared.
I simply didn't save and I'll do it over again, see if I can manipulate it another way.

I find it takes multiple fast travels away and back to the house. So far I've always ended up with a completely furnished house eventually.
