Hearthfire: Will it have more Marriage Options?

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:56 pm

Considering that Hearthfire allows you to adopt a child, will there be more marriage options as well? What I mean is perhaps some new things like:

- More marriage options (Karliah, Serana, Sorine, etc.)
- Divorce and remarriage (I am unaware if you can remarry on consoles)
- More recognition (passive NPC dialogue, like with the Guards)

I know that this is a home DLC and not a marriage DLC, but the two subjects aren't very far off from each other, with each having the ability to make the game more lifelike and make it really feel immersive. Perhaps a real romance DLC will come out sometime, with this being an omen to future non-quest related DLC, but it would be brilliant if they included such things next week.

We don't know. The main focus of hearthfire seems to be house-building.

I get the feeling that if there were going to be more marriage options, they would have showcased at least some of them in the trailer, but who knows. This DLC would probably be the best time to add such a thing if they were ever going to.

All we know about topic:

With this official add-on to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, youcan purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with an armory, alchemy laboratory, stable, garden, and more. Use all-new tools like the drafting table and carpenter’s workbench to transform quarried stone, clay, and sawn logs into structures and furnishings. Even transform your house into a home by adopting children.
? Choose Your Land - Choose from property in the salt marshes of Hjaalmarch, the forests of Falkreath, or the vast tundra of The Pale. For the more ambitious landowner, purchase multiple plots and start building a real estate empire.
? Customize Your Home –Expand your home with a variety of room combinations including an armory, alchemy tower, kitchen, trophy room and more. Grow plants in your new greenhouse, cultivate slaughterfish in the fish hatchery, house your Arcane Enchanter in the enchanting tower, or display your latest conquest in the trophy room. Add additional features like stables, mills, smelters, gardens and more.
? New Objectives and Interactions – Guard your home from unwanted visitors like marauding kidnappers, armed bandits, and skeever infestations. Turn almost any follower into your personal steward to improve and protect your home. Or if you require more help, hire a personal bard or carriage driver to ease the burdens of home ownership.
? Adoption – Transform your house into a home with Hearthfire’s all-new adoption system. Adopt children and discover new ways to interact with your family. Play games with the kids, allow them to have pets and gain new bonuses from having a family.

It kinda has too? Given that you need a wife to adopt a child, I see it unlikely that they'd deny everyone whose killed there wife or lost her the opportunity to adopt :P

Admit it.

You just want to know if "Open Marriage" will now be an option.

Karliah
She's already devouted to someone in this life or the next.

Sorine
DLC can't interact with one another(load order issues), so its not possible for Hearthfire to make a DLC character marriagable. Unless they intended Hearthfire to do that when they made Dawnguard.

Serana
See above, that aside you can already ask Serena to marry you. She says no.

Karliah shouldn't be a romance, but she absolutely should be a follower once her quests are done.

they still need to add a Marriageable candidate for both Genders of each race, Bosmer and Khajiit still have no Marriage candidates.
But I have doubt that they added any new, but maybe they will fix being able to re-marry after your Medieval divorce O.o

Not likely, this is a housing update not an NPC one. Though we may be surprised.

More marriage options would be nice. Especially for the Beast Races.

Am I the only one who translated that as more elf races? *mutters about dirty knife ears*

I hope they gave more characters already in the game marriage options. One that comes to mind is in White Run, Carlotta. She already has a daughter so you can get married and gain a child in one fell swoop, thus ending her suitor plague.

I would pay another 5 dollars for a marriage overhaul, it really needs some work. Mainly a divorce option, I mean really!? But yeah, I hope it will add at least a few new options to fit in with the whole adoption thing.

- More marriage options (Karliah, Serana, Sorine, etc.) - Nothing mentioned on the subject.
- Divorce and remarriage (I am unaware if you can remarry on consoles) - Doubtful, but not impossible.
- More recognition (passive NPC dialogue, like with the Guards) - Almost certainly not, considering the amount of voicework and programming involved.

The guards probably not too hard for voice acting, couldn't tell who the hell it was under those helmets, or if their making faces at you.

Like I said before I want remarriage because it will be kinda of creepy for my character. A stranger just suddenly wants to adopt kids and have them move out into his house in the woods, and he isn't married, nor does he have a actually family until the adoption.

this is the most correct statement, if not here, then we wont get khajits or bosmer. or divorce or remarriage.

Imy big hope for this dlc is dunmer dwellings, but it wont happen.
