TESO currently has no first person.

I really hope that changes.

Yeah, from the leaked screenshots it′s pretty clear it uses the same engine as SWTOR...very similar. Low textures, polygons and a very "plastic" feel so in terms of graphic fidelity it seems to be rather lackluster. But it′s still under development so I hope it gets improved. Also in terms of performance it was said that the huge pvp battles would have hundreds of players so it seems it can handle itself fairly well... altho TOR had some nasty performance issues so let′s hope they sort that out.

In this day and age I would′ve asked for better graphic fidelity...we got Tera, GW2 and some MMOFPS coming this year that use DX11 and look gorgeous (don′t remember the name) so "being a MMO" is not an excuse for poor fidelity. So the only way it can save itself is with the graphic style.
At first i had some Kingdoms of Amalur vibes with it... and that′s good...that game is very pretty. It′s cartoony but everything in it is beautiful...the colors the wacky/completely unusual creature design and the environments.

So despite those issues it nails it on the style...just hope all the environments look as good as the concept art there, the drawings were gorgeous.

Two biggest misconceptions about engines.

1. It will look like X game that also uses X engine: False, this is entirely up to the modelers and concept artists

2. It will perform like X game that also uses X engine: False, there are many different ways for developers to use an engine, not to mention many factors that can affect "performance" that have nothing to do with the engine.

So knowing what engine this game will use really doesn't tell us jack. If you start complaining about how X game works because it uses X engine your just going to look like a [censored] that doesn't know what he/she is talking about. It all boils down to the developers themselves, its perfectly possible for two games to use similar core coding and run and look completely different.

Thanks for the informed response. I have heard the SWTOR devs say they heavily modified the engine - I'm hoping Zenimax did the same, but in a better way :)
