Your confusing Thalmor with Altmer. You might as well call every Nord a stormcloak while your at it. Look at an Altmer like http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Legate_Fasendil he joined the Imperial Legion. And if you look around Skyrim there are a few Altmer Stewards such as http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Anuriel and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Nenya. It seems despite the Great War the Altmer aren't suffering prejudice from it. Probably because many of those Altmer could have been living in Skyrim for decades or even a century.
Anuriel is a Bosmer. Though there is also the priest of Arkay in Falkreath, an Altmer who regretted his participation in the Great War. I thought that was an interesting back story.

There is also Niranye who is a nice Altmer, if you don't count her shady dealings.

Note that many of these Altmer are in Stormcloak holds. Just in case anyone whips out that silly argument that the Stormcloaks are racist.

Well I didn't say the Altmer were Thalmor, I said the Thalmor make it harder to like the Altmer, which is still a true statement. Also most Altmer NPC's do enough with their own personalities for me to not like them. The thing is I would never be that way and it would be hard to even RP being that way. If I played an Altmer and I didn't act like a jerk, it would almost seem out of character.

Like I said I will still try it, it is just going to be very different for me.

I think elves are the ultimate mage character.

Originally in Morrowind I played a High Elf mage character, but I'm going to to disagree. The reason I got into Breton mage characters is because in Oblivion I made a Breton mage whom was a complete and total tank. He used the Apprentice Birthsign [that's right bIrthsign] because it was 50/50. They still had 100% magical reisistance, and then combine the Apprentice sign the magical resistance was still 50 with 100 magical regen. It was great. But in Skyrim we cannot do that cause they decided to screw with the Bretons and only give them 50% resistance. -.-

So now I have a Breton who uses the Atronauch stone. With robes that regenerate my magicka 100% along with a hood that does. Atronauchs slow recovery is null and void. And I find my Breton doesn't run out of a lot of magicka. Most spells barely dent his magicka pool.
