House Decoration

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 2:35 pm

Am I the only one that spends time decorating houses with misc items and weapons, Like I can use empty shell casing and it actually shows the bullets.

Instead of the case box..

And I loooove decorating the houses.

Like in a bathtub, I filled it up with eggs from various animals.. Anyone else do this?

I did in Fallout 3, but I never felt the "home" feeling with the Presidential... I miss my Megaton shack :sadvaultboy:

I collect massive amounts of weapons and use those to craft a makeshift armory in the kitchen.

I also always put a pistol on the nightstand. Habit carried over from real life.

L38 has too much space..

At the pistol on nightstand... I do that too.

Self defence is important..

I have Boone with a Minigun looking after me when I'm sleeping.

Oh and I collect teddy bears, my bath is filled with t-rexes.

I do in Novac a lot.

The smaller buildings make it feel more homely.

Yeah, Recently I've been collecting teddy bears, And I plan on making a Teddy bear apartment in Novacs empty motel rooms.

Only on the first playthrough. And I really didn't make the effort to arrange them.

Actually, I agree with Clash. I don't get the homey feeling that I had in http://www.pbase.com/ewaldorph/megaton

I'd like to, but the few times I've tried I become too frustrated with trying to place items the way I want. Picking them up and twirling them in the air in order to get them to land rightside up, facing the direction I want etc. I don't suppose there's some trick to that, is there? :/

So now I just stuff everything into the containers. I collect teddy bears, dinos, toy cars, billiard balls, baseballs...and once I filled the tub with empty whiskey bottles.

I find its just easier to drag it instead of twirling it.

I have all my nuka freedoms and nuka quantums all arranged to make a nice light show of colors, and a whole corner dedicated to drinking absinthe..

i do miss the special "house customization" options form FO3 but no big whoop!

There's one, iirc, on top of a metal box near the tracks close to the powder ganger jail place (bad with names, as always). The spot with the red box car before some abandoned railway depot (not the area close to deathclaws). I think there was another in one of the random caves somewhere, that I found. But the true Dino Toys are rare, yes.

I've found a little trick by placing an item on...say....counter backwards, then I just slowly rotate in the direction I want it in. Pending on if the engine is behaving, takes about 5-10 seconds.

That said. I really decked out the Cocktail Lounge of the Lucky 38. 4 Vodkas, 4 Wines, 4 scotchs,4 whiskeys, 4 rum and nuka, two bottles of absinthe and 5 shotglasses on the bar counter, and I have a table by a window I place a clipboard or two, a bottle of absinthe, and some shot glasses, maybe a magazine or two as well. I enjoy setting up scenes. :D

I spent 10 minutes trying to get one of the damaged gnomes to not only "stand" in a corner (instead of lying sidewise on the floor like a roll of painted toilet paper) but also to face the room rather than the wall. I twirled it, I dragged it, I shook it violently up and down in the air, I gently nudged, gently shook....same thing with wanting to put shotglasses, wine and whiskey on a table 'just so'. Or teddy bears sitting up on the bed. I guess I don't have the talent for it. ;)

Haven't done much decorating since back when physics would actually allow me to place stuff, and it not have nearly as much tendency to take flight if you looked at it too hard, placed something else within 3-6 feet of it on the same surface, or even entered the room. That's been what, since Morrowind or so?

I like how it's empty though. I thought an 'android' bartender would be a neat idea. But I love the empty aloneness in there. One thing I love is the casino floor and that loud 'whoosh' noise. I dont know what it is, I assume its an AC draft.

Edit: I placed everything in the L38 CL by hand too. I'm such a trooper

I wish I could at least send companions into the cocktail lounge..

It'd be nice to see Companions whippin up some drinks.

My guess is they can't because the CL is on the same loading cell as the Penthouse, so it probably runs that little no companion allowed script or whatever.

I filled the suitcase in my Novac room with Pre-War money and a .357.

You never know if the world will "reboot" so I want to stay ready with cash!

I do the same thing in Novac except I use the safe instead. I fill it with half of my caps (converted to NCR dollars) and put a pistol in there.

Edit: It's safe to say that my ideal house would have dozens of firearms in it. I wouldn't be more than 4 ft from a weapon at any time.

God help anyone who's stupid enough to break in.

It is?

Huh.. Never knew that.

Also, I wish the 9MM pistol had better weapon mods.. Be the most epic House Deco, if it could have a silencer.. Even though it is already ridiculously weak.. :wallbash:
