How about cloaks?

Post » Mon Sep 23, 2013 5:40 pm

This is what im saying, if its really going to be something to add to the game im sure the devs can design it just like the armor so that clipping doesn't happen with them. And as for the movement of the cloak, I really just don't want something that sticks to my legs. Just a thought, but I think it could add a lot to the visual side of the game

To add something else, The Romans, the Greek, and some Knights wore capes at least, some possibly wore cloaks. If some of the Provinces are at least partially based on them, then it stands to reason that the ES version wore them as well.

Also, the Breton assassin in the Alliance trailer had a cape as part of his armor similar to the nightingale one.

Capes and cloaks are basically the same thing, Cloaks are just made to actually be useful for something other than to look cool.

It would make sense for at least the wood elfs to have used cloaks throughout their history. Cloaks are more than just protection from the elements. They would break up the human shape a little making it easier to stalk through the woods. And especially more so since they're bow fighters and stealth pretty much goes hand in hand with the bow.

Nobodies saying you have to wear a cloak, i'm just proposing it as an aesthetic option to have. I for one would be wearing a cloak if it were available to me.

Please explain to me how cloaks do not fit into the lore, there purpose is to protect from weather and they are historically used in many civilizations. Skyrim is a perfect example of a place where cloaks would be the norm. Just because the game does not show any does not mean it does not exist. We never see anyone go to the bathroom in Elder scrolls, does that mean no one goes to the bathroom. We never see water skins and bottles anywhere, but it is obvious they exist. Until ESO, we never new there was another Oblivion Crisis other than the one during the 3rd Era, but you seem to be taking that pretty well. Same with the alliances.

hooded robes, cloaks, I don't care as long as there isn't just capes. Capes are cool, but every super hero has one. I'm not superman, I cant go back in time

I'd love to see cloaks but surcoats as well.. I simply cant understand why they're never at launch. It took like 12 month for TW to add them for Rift.

Name one game that is like a MMO that has cloaks and no clipping issues with weapons or the fact that the cloaks move through the body of the character.

Why? Describe it other then being rude and just saying no?

To the OP I agree, Cloaks are needed! Because:

1. it adds another loot item to acquire

2. It's an awesome cosmetic item.

3. It helps those of us who prefer to RP certain types of characters.

You act as if there's not been an MMO that featured non clipping cloaks. Seeing as ESO will not feature a Dye system (sadly), and the Armor models act as a second skin instead of actually being armor having a cloak will go a long ways to fixing these graphical issues.

What the hell? You think there weren't any cloaks in morrowind and oblivion beacuse of lore reasons?

That they simply haven't invented a pice of fabric to ward of wind and rain yet?

At any rate there were cloaks in Daggerfall and some Skyrim armorsets had them like the Redguard clothing, hooded robes, the Nightingale set and whatever Ulfric Stormcloak was wearing.

Oh yeah there's that, StormCLOAKS

IMO the cloaks shouldn't have armor or stats at all, it should be cosmetics. If for example I play in Ebonheart pact and like my tabard I want to represent my faction I could wear a cloak with the symbol of my faction, it would create another way to customize, another way to your character be unique in the world. I said the faction symbol, it can be anything else, like represent one of the guilds that I'm in (it can be NPC guilds or player guilds (but in that way they could add cloaks to crafters, so they could make cloaks for their guild mates for example)).It could be to represent some city/town or province, etc...
