How big do you think the world will be?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 2:56 pm

So many of my wishes has been killed that I'm not expecting anything anymore. If things would be differently and we would wait a decent TES product then I would say that I'll wait the game world to be about 3x the size of Daggerfalls game world.
Now I'll say that all provinces will probably be equal to the size of Solstheim we had in Bloodmoon - count the world size by yourself.
I'd love to see a daggerfall size but I suppose because of the multiplayer aspect you wouldn't be able to do the randomly generated thing? And not sure how far the hero engine can be pushed as I never played ToR.

The world in ToR is huge. I wouldn't want randomly generated terrain for TESO even if it meant a much bigger world though.

Both sides of the fence are silly at this point in time. Good or bad. Just wait until more information is released and we can make more informed decisions. So many people here are "this is going to be epic!!!!!" or "this is already a huge financial loss", when nobody knows. There is no way we could possibly know with such minimal information out there.

While the HeroEngine is nice, it comes with many restrictions if you do not fully optimize it yourself. BioWare did a bad job of keeping up with the engine.

I never played ToR, correction, once at a friends for like 10 minutes. Do you think in the 5 years they've had the engine they will have been able to optimize it so that it runs smoother/better (not sure of the right word to use I am not technical at all) for TES:O. I really hope to see those gameplay details soon because then I can better imagine what it is like.

My fear for this open worldness is that every 5 minutes your at a loading screen or that every area you roam in feels restricting. Like how in WoW you had areas for each level that were quite small. It felt restricive to me.

I think they did!

We're getting multiple provinces!
Go play Arena, it's already got that

It will be pretty big, but not outlandish by MMO standards in the slightest.
I just hope it's gorgeous and has plenty to explore.

it'll be large, but not in the traditional sandbox type of away.

expect "zones" up the *** and many, many loading screens.

and?

there were no loading screens mentioned in just about any Skyrim previews, doesn't mean they weren't present in the final product.

Wrong. They were mentioned in NUMEROUS previews. I remember reading about how they had 3D objects you could rotate in just about EVERY preview

We don't know, none of these people commenting knows, we will have to wait and see, i hope it is huge , even by mmo standards. All of this finally in today's age at one time ( for the most part ).

Hopefully at least as big as each province is now...but who knows. If they have to sacrifice size of lands just so they can have them all, then that's disappointing to me.

They're going to have to sacrifice it in some respect no matter what. No matter how much time you have, provinces will be 9 times less detailed and large if you do 9 instead of one in the same time period.

However, their team is more than twice as big as Skyrim's.

Thats not true at all and actually the world size compared to the amount of content and points of interest in TES games specialy OB and SK is far too packed and could be spread out over a much larger scaled world area, lets hope this is how the mmo is handled.

I hope Skyrim in TES:O will be as big as Skyrim's game itself....

It would be a little funny to climb the throat of the world in less then a minute.

Then they could still make a single province 9 times the size of each of the provinces they're making. They still have to sacrifice the size of individual lands, not in comparison to what we already have seen, but to what they could make.

The concept that it is too packed in Oblivion and could be spread out over a much larger world is a fine enough opinion, one I agree with. But it doesn't remotely make what I said untrue, maybe you should read what I wrote again to make sure you know what you're trying to disprove.

It's over the whole of Tamriel, each province within it shall be included in the game. (at least that's what they have been saying)

I'm hoping it is a similar scale to Skyrim and Oblivion so when we go to those places it will be familiar. It will be tough to do that with the 3rd-person/Isometric view and make it feel right.
