How big do you think the world will be?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 1:45 pm

Like how big do you think the provinces will be compared to, say, Skyrim, for a recent reference point. The game has been in development for, what, 5 and a half years now? That means it will release with around double Skyrim's development time. How much do you think they could get done in that time?

Well, the article said that Cyrodiil uses Oblivion's topography, but it's scaled down for "PvP reasons". If I extrapolate that in relation to the other provinces, I'd say ... about 3-4 times as big as Skyrim.

Is it open world PvP then.

Cynical me: 5 years? Thats enough for open world sandbox for all of Tamriel right? With a big enough team

Just wondering, do you ever post anything except [paraphrased]"Yaaaaaaay"? Not criticising, just wondering if there's anything more specific you'd like to say, like explaining what you think is great about it or something.

What's so great? We're getting multiple provinces! Which we can traverse with our friends! This is going to be epic!

Only epic if you like MMORPG's, and isn't a carbon copy of WoW with made up TES lore.

Except that's exactly what I want. I've always dreamed of TES with WoW gameplay. This is a dream come true.

I've asked like... 4-5 times across different threads. I think your barking up the wrong tree getting something back.

Two questions, How much are they paying you? xD

How come the Elder Scrolls needed this change if it's such a good thing?

The replys 'Cause its stagnant or stale' does not count, please explain why you think that way.

He's trolling. It's the same thing in every thread. He said in another thread that TES:O is taking the series in a new exciting direction because it was getting stale.

Because the single player games continue to get dumbed down. I don't even want to think what the prospect of VI would be. Complete casuals focused garbage is my bet. Online gaming is the new age and the future. Perfect time for Zeni to take this franchise where it needs to go before it's too late and gets left behind.

But Skyrim had a huge amount of sales. If anything you could argue the Elder Scrolls goes from strength to strength. If you don't want to think of the prospect of VI then surely the idea of an MMO would be terrible to you.

If you don't like 'dumbed' down things then how come you are excited for this kind of MMO. Please explain yourself further I don't fully understand where you are coming from yet

Cyrodiil is open world pvp - the rest of the world isn't from what I could gather. The capitol provence is the war zone, in other words.

Edit to add: I am betting this world + dungeons will be easily 4x Skyrim.

But then the big issue in my mind. I think the world should be open. No level restrictions to areas. It's a shame that there are.

Guys its best to just ignore him, He's like DB1, look at his post about how he says single player games are getting dumbed down, then look at his posts after Skyrims release (nothing but praise) then look at his posts after announcement of TESO (saying the series was stagnant) just ignore, it lol

Strange how you don't think MMORPGs are 'casual focused garbage' or the epitome of 'dumbed down'.

Careful - I think it's against TOS to label others a troll.

And MMO's aren't also getting stale?

At least you can put together a fairly good story with singleplayer games, with MMO's it becomes even more of a fetch quest read text type of experience. Not to mention the horribly boring combat and mechanics involved.

Yeah, its not allowed. Just ignore. This thread has been hijacked enough.

I really hope the world is big enough to support a large player base. I as a single player TES player can't quite imagine those crowded cities with 'lol' over every single players head. Maybe the option to turn of chat above other players head. My ultimate fear is the loading screen. As open world as possible please.

Honey your not being flamed. People are just wondering when your going to post something constuctive towards the conversation.

So many of my wishes has been killed that I'm not expecting anything anymore. If things would be differently and we would wait a decent TES product then I would say that I'll wait the game world to be about 3x the size of Daggerfalls game world.
Now I'll say that all provinces will probably be equal to the size of Solstheim we had in Bloodmoon - count the world size by yourself.
