How big is your backlog of games?

Post » Thu Dec 05, 2013 7:16 am

I bought a ton of games over the recent years and I just picked up another 7 over black Friday. Currently I have 91 games that I need to beat, I play on PC and 99% of the games were picked up on sales. I almost never pay full price for a game. How big is your backlog of games?

P.S. if your wondering why I have so many games that I have no beat. Its because I was heavy into mmorpgs. But now I am burned out on mmorpgs and starting to clear my backlog of games.

Recently bought Lego Marvel Superheroes for PS4.

Only 3 titles for the PS4 so far.

Battlefield 4
Ghosts
Lego Marvel

For PS3:
GTA V
Skyrim
Battlefield 3
Modern Warfare 3
The Last of Us
Saints Row IV
Mass Effect Trilogy

I've beaten them all, so nothing I haven't beaten. I like to finish my games when I play them.

None: all the games I used to play I either got rid of or never continued to play. These days, closest I come to video games is social networking apps. If those count, then I have maybe half a dozen of them that I never finished.

The Witcher 2

Battlefield 4

Hotline Miami

System Shock 2

Civilization V

Mirror's Edge

Borderlands 2

Some of these are rather new like the Witcher 2 and Battlefield 4. Gladly added TW2 to my backlog as I've already played the first and the third installment looks promising. I'm rather good at focusing on a single game, one at a time.

Wow, I think I finally met someone with a larger backlog then me, but not by to much. My last count(and I haven't bought to many games since, but have played more then I bought), was 72, consisting of a few SNES games I always wanted to play when I was younger so I bought off E-bay, several N64 games, about 10 Gamecube games, about 20ish PS1 and PS2 games, around a dozen PC games, and the rest are evenly split between DS and PSP games. Oh, and a handful of Xbox 360 games.

Edit: Oddly enough, my reason is the same as yours. I spent 5 years playing Diablo 2 pretty heavily, and then spent the next 7 years playing FFXI(from Sept 2003 till jan 2010).

Over the past 4 years I worked up quite a backlog. Something in the 50 region. A few of them being MMO's where I need to get to max level to consider them beaten in my book. Most of them on 360.

Eh, not too bad. ONly abut 6 games, but each should be at least 300 hours a piece  Thing is I've played a few of the before, so not sure that counts

Basicly it was the GOG Bioware sale a while back plus a couple others of that ilk and time

I don't plan to ever play all the PS1 and PS2 games I have because they mostly all belonged to my dad.

I've got like 7 games in my Steam library I've yet to play/complete since my PC isn't up to snuff.

195 installed on steam mostly due to the great sales they have had over 3 years, 8 on uplay and about 15 on origin due to the humble bundle and the recent sale they had,

Quite a few are games i originally bought in the 90's and are sold as a packs like the Unreal or Tomb Raider collections on Steam sales.

I've got a HUUUGE backlog of games I will probably never get to. Some of these games I bought back in the 1990's and just never got to play them.

Giant. This is what happens when you collect them and happen to love RPGs. You get large amounts of games. I intentionally am leaving out Daggerfall and Arena because I know I'll never beat those games. Tycoon and simulators and strategy games(most) are left out, too. But otherwise, my backlog is big enough that even my nephew keeps track of it unintentionally and pulls out games based on if he knows I've been playing them or not. Most likely, he just pulled out a game I haven't played in a long time.

I could care less, though. I feel no need to see gaming as a job or school. It's an activity that keeps me busy, is relaxing, and something I enjoy. I do wish I didn't have to grind so much to beat Star Ocean 3, though. Or grind so much to do much in Drakengard. Really hope Drakengard 3 isn't as slow in walking pace. Drakengard 1 is fun in a weird way, but it has such a slow walking pace. I can handle the largely colorless graphics and muddy colors, but the walking/running is what puts me off.

I pretty much gave up on Sonic Unleashed. I got it for my Nephew and he couldn't get through the Warehog levels and neither could I. So you have a little kid who thinks I am an ultra gamer and he finds out I am probably at the exact same skill level as him in some cases. This kid used to help me figure out what to do in Batman Arkham Asylum when he was 5 and here we are groaning and growling over a Sonic game.

Then, we both gave up. It wasn't worth our trouble and never will be. Chip also was annoying. I still haven't beaten many games from my childhood, either. Mainly old, not so good ones like the first Croc game. Croc 2 was miles better.

I am very careful with money and do not get too crazy with Steam sales due to knowing Steam will one day be no more. I usually buy these games on disc eventually, too, just because of this. I also am very limited in my game interests to a certain extent. Certain games are just avoided by me such as most RTS games. I was turned off the Total War games until I learned they were actually turned based. I plan to check them out soon.

One game I have is actually a game that Steam won't let me run because it is used. I keep the game because I have a side collection of foreign game boxes and Serious Sam HD First Encounter's box art is amazing. This collection extends only to the PC as certain countries get re-releases of old games more often than the US. It's a fun extra hobby if you like old PC games but didn't grow up with a majority of the big PC games.

I seriously need to beat Brutal Legend one of these days. I never feel like it. Great game and an amazing metalhead friendly game, though.

I guess it depends on how you define backlog. Games that I've played around with, but stopped; or games that just go on and on (puzzle, tower defense, etc).... I'm not sure I'd consider part of my backlog. Sort of.

Considering that, I've got around 8 or 10 games. Only got three new ones in November (between birthday & Steam sale) - Lego Marvel PS3, Bioshock Infinite PC, Van Helsing PC.

...oh, wait. And I got PS+ finally, so there's also Dragon's Dogma. But that one I doubt I'll play through - the demo didn't do it for me, but I figured I could check out the real game to see if I can get into it that way.

But, yeah - I've got a ton of unfinished games that I either got stuck on and quit, or just kind of drifted away from. Maybe I'll get back to those eventually.

----

(On the other hand, my backlog of unpainted gaming miniatures - for Warhammer, WH40K, Space Marine, Battlefleet Gothic, Malifaux, and half a dozen other tabletop games - stretches back to the 80's. :wallbash: )

Congratulations on figuring out the dirty little secret the industry banks on: the backlog.

I just transferred my games to a new storage system: I've 13 games in my backlog out of my 46 game collection.
