How to disable the low health heartbeat sound

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 2:10 am

People with severe panic disorder play games where dragons frequently land near you, shaking the screen, enemies spin mid-attack and decapatite you, coming out of nowhere assasins jump in and attack you AND enough amount of blood is spilt to paint half of Skyrim red? I bet the Call of Duty series would make a great choice of game as well. Other highly recommended titles are Doom and Dead Island. Just to keep it classy.

Anyways, look around in Nexus for sound mods. There are several mods which disable the level up shout-sounds, loud weapon drawing sound or the horse wheezing. There might be something for this too.

Play with 100 health and wear only cloth on master difficulty. I assure you you will not hear any heartbeat.

Its true that we as humans crave entertainment. Part of us likes the excitement of taking risks, wild women, spicy food, and unconventional events going on in our daily lives. One cannot live in a padded room unless they are hospitalized. I think their are certain aspects that seem more stress provoking than a sound that triggers a raise in heart rate. If anything games should come with an FDA warning. They are unhealthy to begin with. You aren't exorcizing your sitting in one place, possibly consuming a beverage of high sugar content. But this has to do more with what triggers the reaction. For me anything that startles the response fight or flight is only going to raise the blood pressure and lead to heart disease. Its sad but possibly other hobbies may need to be pursued or other types of games that aren't so sound and graphic enhanced where things jump out at you. I think one time my heart skipped a beat once when a sabre cat jumped out of nowhere and attacked me. So what I'm confused about is there a sound in the game or combination of sound and visual that stimulates a heart arrhythmia based on hypersensitivity or is it the type of panic where one is startled easily from an action that occurs in the game. Its all about triggers. The panic could easily be associated with social situations in real life, so then in a sense it has no impact of what is occurring visually as graphical violence, or things that startle you to cause fight or flight response, or if this is of a photosensitive nature that is a type of seizure.

I'm probably revealing too much private information but I have a severe anxiety/panic disorder that occaionally requires an emergency hospital visit for rapid heart rate with palpitations.

Sometimes when my health is low and the heart beat sound starts up it sometimes triggers me into having a panic/anxiety attack. Is their a way for me to disable this partcular soundbyte without disabling the rest of the FX sounds? I don't have any other problem with the rest with an exception to the heart beat sound.

If any of the gamesas staff members are reading this please take it into consideration to add this feature to your next release patch so this game can be more friendly to your costumers who have panic disorder.

Wow. I mean I find the heartbeat thing really useful, and yes, sometimes it makes me feel a little like it`s my own heartbeat, but I never expected it to affect anyone so much. I remember you could get this for a Mod in Morrowind and Oblivion and it gave you the option to switch it off if you didn`t like it. How do you even play such violent games if you`re this affected by it without ending up catatonic by the end of each session?

I hope the Devs provide an option to help you.
