Don't ask her right away. Get in a conversation with her, talk for a while, then when your conversation ends suggest that you continue the talk over a cup of coffee in [X] later that day.

Just like it sounds, just go up and ask. I did it once after emailing someone for awhile. They said no lets talk more an dmeet up first. Said ok and now I think things are going quite well. So don't let certain rejections stop you. Just stay friends and go from there.
