That we know of.
The Dominion seems to be a recurring theme in Altmer history, they really dont like that their former glory has been diminished.
Maybe, and Im speculating here, the MMO Dominion is sort of like a false start of it.
Its quite possible that they will lose the civil war that is the MMO storyline and wont get a chance to reboot the Dominion until 2E830.
After all, whoever gets the ruby throne in the MMO doesnt really matter.
We know that around the 2E800's they are replaced by Cuhlecain who comes before Tiber.
So whatever happens in the MMO, some unknown event will ensure that none of the factions will ultimately be able to hold the ruby throne.
Actually, it seems the PvP itself is the unseating event. Once a guild loses dominance, it looks like a new Emperor is crowned.
It is official, TESO has screwed up everything including the Lore.
Being that they haven't, how have they? To be more clear: much like Skyrim nothing that we know yet actively conflicts with anything but our assumptions. When the potential prize is rulership of a continent, a number of hostile cultures will unite, which is what we're seeing here.
If I was working over at ZOS and I saw all the commotion over here, I'd immediately call in my team and revamp the story. They can't reasonably expect good revenue streams with this many angry fans fuming just from the teaser info. There are already plans for an in-game insurgency to occupy the game to actively protest and alter the direction of the story...
If this doesn't profoundly register with the team that is directing and designing this MMO, they do not deserve their paid positions to begin with. They've already messed up, but they have time to fix it. And they will fix it, if they know what's good for their company's reputation and profit margin. And if they don't, well then this MMO and it's creators jobs will not last long. It's as simple as that.
I think you're overestimating the severity and purpose of forum rage quits. Most of the people complaining will likely buy and play the game anyway, and changing the vague half-details we know because a loud subset of the forumgoers demanded it is really taking a cheap way out.
Aside from which, even if the people shouting wouldn't buy it, many others would. The fact that some folks here don't like what they think Zeni is doing is not a financially justifiable reason to undo what is already years of work.
