How good will PC graphics be?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 1:52 am

True 1080p, true filters (v-sync included, the tearing is atrocious on consoles), and constant 60 fps or more.
There you go.

Even if it was the exact same amount of detail, which is not, the PC would look and feel a lot better just because of those 3 things.

There will be a lot of sliders to configure the graphics, and down the road, there will be mods.
I just don't understand anybody with a decent to good PC, choosing the console version over it.

It just doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't think anyone with any sort of gaming rig from the last half-decade would choose console over PC.

Obviously those who don't have a gmaing PC will chose consoles. ;)

The only reason I'm asking is because I wouldn't want to end up spending a lot of money for all of the PC requirements, and the PC version only being a little bit better than console versions. If you now what I mean.
Even if it does end up being just a little better than consoles, the investment will be worth it for future stuff.

I know few people who did, based on things like "I like my couch", or "I like xbox achievements".
To each their own I guess.

I've been playing for a bit and I'm sad to inform you that the textures on Xbox 360 - though I didn't expect them to - look not-so-great.

Don't get me wrong, Skyrim looks INCREDIBLE, even on the Xbox. Beautiful faces, water, design, draw distances, spell effects, dragons, and more.

It's just that due to the Xbox's limited RAM the textures are quite horrid up close.

If you're on Xbox and you've come to lower your expectations of Xbox games when you see ingame footage from the PC version, you won't mind at all, though.

The gameplay, design and frickin MUSIC make up for it.

Enjoy the game guys!
How are you playing early? Just curious........

I think it will look pretty nice with loads of AA, AF and uprated textures. But I'm not expecting much better than Fallout 3/NV in terms of LOD, model density, animation etc.

It will and does look good from the Xbox preview footage I've seen, and I'll be very happy if it looks 'slightly' nicer in 1080p on my GTX 560. The revamped lightbox and spell particle effects look sick too!

The xbox footage does look pretty good, but just keep thinking about how console versions = low on PC.......it keeps me warm and fuzzy at night

Two things. This is the 100th thread where I've seen Pete Hines' comment warped around to mean console = low settings. Not gonna bother arguing though cause it's pointless.

Second, compare FO3 and New Vegas between console and PC. There are differences, but the fact is they're just not that far apart.

It does. Rage on high settings with AA turned up...theres almost no comparison.

Also true for it's texture qualities on world objects.

Ugh, so much ignorance in this thread...

Go look at Oblivion and Fallout 3, both games on PC look much worse than 360 when set to low or medium.
It's only on max settings do the PC versions look slightly better.

The same will be true for Skyrim.

no, such will not happen why? because unlike when Oblivion was released 360s were decent they were new at the time.

Console graphics are most likely medium with no AA.
According to Pete Hines high is gorgeous because of higher res textures, and greater LOD. Ultra on the other "Will melt your face." :hubbahubba:

Skyrim was designed and built for the 360. The PC version is a port, this was made clear a long time ago.

You can't really say a video card with 1gb memory, my gpu has 1 gb, it's alot worse then the 8800gt which is 512mb.
Recommended gpu is GTX 260.

IF THAT card is recomended, then you can bet your ass that PC version won t melt your face.
This is an old card that isnt even entry market for PC...

please discuss why Pete said the following

Q: Can we PC users put the graphical settings any lower than the console ones?

A (from Pete): No.

consoles will have larger sells together, saying something AGAINST your largest piece of pie that is false doesn't exactly seem smart.

The 260 is recommended for Witcher 2 and imo that game had face melting graphics.

I believe you are very confused , "Consoles are our lead skew" doesn't mean "PC version is a 360 port" , and doesn't mean "Skyrim was designed and built for the 360" :spotted owl:

EDIT: i just read all your previous posts and all is clear to me now lol ...hmmmm... :spotted owl:

You and me must have been playing different things then.
Also the framerate is much, much better on PC.
