How many of you bug tested?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 7:44 am

I will say this...

I played through the Beta with the settings on Novice and tried to be as buffed out as possible, without using any exploits. I started a new character for the Beta as to have a completely clean save to test from and not potentially "tainted" by some unsuspected and/or adverse effect from using an exploit. It made no sense using a glitch to find glitches. I needed a clean "control".

Having said that, I do look forward to one Dragon fight in particular. This time I will be with a different character and the difficulty will be cranked up. It will be quite interesting to say the least.
I wonder how the Dragons will be explained if we don't start the main quest. Since you can't explain at the moment  Since it's in the Soul Cairn i guess it would be explained as it's soul was trapped there it can be there. And not all the dragons died. Some went into hiding.

any of the testers test at level cap on master without crazy enchanted gear just wondering how it plays at 81

Yes, there were a handful of people who took the duty to test at level cap. I'm not one of them but I remember them enjoying it.

Yea, DarkRider should get a medal, that was an incredible index.

you wanna know how well we bug tested?

I personally had a small journal that I wrote the date I was playing, the time, and all system and game information possible to retrieve for every single bug I ran across. Every night I would post what I had encountered in detail so the developers could zero in on it.

I know this was the method of quite a few people I talked to over there.

He should get more than a medal. His thread was totally unbelievable and so organised. The majority of use did what we had to do.

I must say that there were a lot of different characters, levels, playstyles and areas tested. I think it was very traverse and thorough.

Unless I am mistaken, that all comes from experience. I believe he was and is part of the TES Alliance. They have quite an extensive Beta service that they offer to Modders to test mods for release.

I don't play level 81 characters, and I never will. I roleplay so my characters are never master-jack-of-all-trades and personally I don't find it fun at 81, the challenging levels are 1-40ish on Master without abusing crafting skills, anything above that I usually find to be too easy so I usually end up re-rolling.

Plus, all my characters have specific builds where they RP and they don't ever touch certain skills so they never make it past 50ish, sometimes 60 max.

Still. I was truly impressed with the job he did and I know that it made it so much easier.

Absolutely. I thought it was very well done and that the Beta was very fortunate to have him there. He should get a little extra something for his efforts. I was about to start an appreciation thread for him, in the Beta, when another member beet me to it. Ha!

It's good to know that others had same thoughts. That was even more prevalent as it drew posts from all through the Beta.

Very impressive and very much appreciated, by the Beta members as well as the development team.

I think a lot of people just like the ''getting Dawnguard for free'' idea.

You'd be surprised how many were actually very devoted to bug testing this.

True but if THEBloodymary777's number estimates were correct and only 100 bug tested and 200-300 got in, that means 100-200 people didn't test at all, that's quite a bit.

It's called the "non productive" factor. This is a percentage that is figured into manhours, when estimating construction bids and calculating business overhead. This usually is factored in at around the 10% mark. And that is applying qualified help. This beta is just a general selection census. That will put the "Dead Weight" factor through the roof. If you wanted to ensure 50 dedicated testers, then you need 200+ applicants.

EDIT : The point is, don't worry about the ones that didn't do anything and trust in the ones that did.
