Nintendo was perfectly correct that the HDTV penetration in 2006 was too low globally , it's only this year that my parents got 2 new HDTVs in the house, so i got to play some wii in the weekends, i wouldn't play at all because of the old CRT tv was too harmful for the eyes and in 30 minutes i would get eyesore and headache.

It's only now that the HD thing is actually worth taking on and here comes the WiiU in some months.

HDTVs now are really crap anyways, i don't know people other than mainstreams that would be amused by them, the LCD panels are incredibly low quality, effects from ghosting are so obvious, terrible quality from samsung as well.

I play on a 40 inch Samsung UE40D6750 , and zelda looked so terrible (edges) in resolution that i had to enable and adjust all kinds of TV resampling features and effects for picture quality, which proved quite useful and got rid of the nastyness like 705 success rate but still.
But still it's nothing like a PC monitor with a GPU (half of the blame goes obviously to the game/system outputting 480p)

But what the heck, it really inpacts the whole experience ... very little. I rather have it like that or to switch to some low quality game with pimped graphics.

And they already took Mario away from me... will it never ends? :sadvaultboy:

What? Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 completely [censored] on past 64 games, and Super Mario Bros Wii is amazing as well although I wouldn't say it overtakes SMB3 in terms of single player. The multiplayer for NSMBW is what makes that title really special. Seriously, after what NSMBW did, it started getting me to look at a variety of franchises and saying "How awesome would that be with cooperative multiplayer".

On that topic, many franchises have improved with the addition of multiplayer. Peace Walker multiplayer is very fun as well. All the TES [censored] who say that multiplayer automatically makes a game less awesome are idiots, plain and simple. Not that I think that TES would work well with multiplayer, just that the assumption that multiplayer hurts games is idiotic at best.

Anyways, as for Zelda, the last title I played was Majora's Mask. Never had enough interest to get the other games. Zelda seems a bit too slow paced at times for me.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 looks awsome... too bad it's a work out these days.

Ps i liked Wind Waker more than Twilight Princess ... but not as much as Ocarina or Majora's...

Sadly we had christmas, which put a dent in my wallet, then in january my sisters birthday, then febuary has KoA... I only just got around to fixing my wii, and got okami too (waiting for it to be delivered). I wont play SS for some time sadly.

Allthough on thing really annoys me about nintendo. They make SS, its controls work well. Now they are moving on to the wii u... So they wont further expand on its controls because now its like a bloody ipad for a controller.Seriously now they have something, it works really well. Now they are abandoning it. It just pisses me off, why even bother if your just going to abandon the things you have put so much effort into.

Sorry went off topic. I have played and liked WW and TP. Will get SS eventually.

I don't own a Wii, and have no intention on buying one. Even if I did for some reason, the Zelda series never really appealed to me.

You can't resist.

The fact that it's another tie in with OoT is enough to break any Zelda fan.

I had the urge, but bought it at release and finished it. :P They're just top notch action adventure games with some of the best level and puzzle design in the industry. Skyward Sword just came out and I'm already patiently awaiting the next release. ^_^

Zelda Ocarina of Time is what started me on my love of video games, namely rpg's. I bought skyword sword for my youngest sister for her birthday and will be borrowing it from her when she is finished...

...?

I guess the exploration element? I don't really think of Zelda as being in the RPG domain.

yea i suppose so, the whole first-person, problem-solving, go here, beat this dungeon. until that point i only played racing and shooter games.

i guess it's more of an action-adventure with a hint of rpg elements...

I like Zelda games but I don't have the temptation to go out and buy every Zelda game there is.

Zelda games haven't been good since A Link to the Past. All the 3D Zelda games are just plain bad and for kids. Maybe not so much for Twilight Princess but OoT, MM, and WW were all very childish not only in graphics.

The N64 Zeldas led you everywhere. There was no getting lost in that game.

And WW.....oh what a tragedy. Whosever idea it was to sail a raft for 10 minutes to get to different places should be fired from creating games anywhere. Really....I throw a fishing line down and thats how I find hearts......so much for exploring.

How the f is having the player get lost good game design? All I have to say is that I'm glad you're just some dude posting on a forum instead of a game developer. Jesus Christ.

I'm a fan of some older games with exploration like Castlevania: SOTN and Vagrant Story, but games where you're expected to look in a strategy guide to figure out where to go next are complete and utter ass.

I just started it earlier tonight. I'm still near the beginning in Skyloft, figuring out the controls and getting a feel for the game world. I've never played a Zelda game before. So far it looks like I'll enjoy playing it a lot, but it's still too early to tell for sure. The graphics are cartoonish but they fit the world very well, and the art design is superb. The dialogue and writing I've seen so far is very good, too

I wanted to try something different, and my Wii has been sitting around collecting dust for months. Might as well get some use out of it. And I can switch between Skyrim and Skyward Sword as I see fit.

Skyward Sword has some of the best bosses and dungeons in the series, so it's not a bad place to start. Skyloft doesn't even begin to show off the best the game has to offer though, so if you like that then I think you're in for a treat.

My only advice is keep up what you've been doing, make sure you got the motion controls down. They aren't perfect by any means, but a lot of folks pick up the bad habit of swinging the Wiimote frantically and that just makes things a whole lot worse. Most enemies early on won't require very fast reactions, so you'll have a reasonable amount of time to get in some nice, precise swings. Basically, think of it as a real sword that has some weight to it; it's not a test of how fast you can swing it (though that is a minigame ).

I'm about 30 minutes into Skyward Sword. I'm tired of the motion controls already.
