How many of you share the urging 'The Legend of Zelda' tempt

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 2:41 am

There have been so many comments around many sites about many people saying that they are trying really really hard to finish skyrim before they go to Skyward Sword, but all the 10/10 and 9.5/10 reviews of the Zelda game are making it so much harder to resist the wait.

Interesting, discuss.

Spoiler

Well Im already at the ... ship .... need to get some more bugs for potions for that mini-boss is not so easy on me.

I rather go slow so i won't even remotely finishy by new year, i rather go slowly and am really interested in exploring every detail, im not one of those types that finishes a game in a weekend.

I played the top down one on snes (a link to the past, see what they did there!!!) but that's about it. Never really tossed my salad. Just....bit kiddy for me, even when I was one.

Zelda games are fun and I like them a lot, but Im much happier with paper-doll games. I love changing out a large amount of gear and customizing my character, so at this point Im not tempted. Im right were I want to be.

I doubt Zelda will ever over take TES as its aimed at a slightly younger market and tends to be more just basic happy slash with an open world and a good story line.

I did enjoy Ocarina of Time when it came out on N64.

Does anyone know if Zelda will be released on xbox 360?

Top quality and all first-party releases from Nintendo it self are never released on any other systems then their own, and Microsoft being one of their "competitiors" that's never going to happen. This is how it's been always been, since nintendo was founded on September 23, 1889.

Nintendo released it's first console in 1974
Microsoft did it's first one in 2001

I have to agree with D-P69...Never got into Zelda. Actually, I never got into consoles much at all. My nephew plays them all the time, and he did get me hooked on one game in particular...Resident Evil 4. Other than that, I'll stick to my PC.

disagree if we had one company nindosonysoft we'd have the best games/console ever plus they would no longer have to fight each other for compitition as there is only one product for one audiance. well that said ive bought sony machines to but the ps3 will probably be the last they have all dissapoimted me and damaged the games industry.

Back in the day id of said link to the past and ocarina of time were some of the best ganes ever. I enjoyed majora n wind waker, last one, princess, not so much, as in didnt finish :(
hope new one is good but im not bothered about use motion control hopefully it more than that. ill be waiting patiently for a version of zelda on the wiiu. Graphics may not be the be all end all. but id like that wow factor back, reminding me of the first time i jammed ocrina of time into my console, many moons ago.

I stopped with Zelda. I used to be a huge fan, but when they came up and said that for Link's 25th birthday, he turned right handed...that was the end. Especially when games like Skyrim are giving lefties an option even though we didn't expect it, Zelda is taking the only well-known lefty hero away and then reporting (paraphrased) 'We're not making a left-handed option. We hope Lefties can learn to play right-handed'. Well F You too...

I'll stick with my half-lefty in Skyrim, and remember Twilight Princess as the last Zelda game.

This thread doesn't mean im not into PCs ... nintendo was one of my childhood things that has sticked on forever, other than that im currently waiting for first IDTech5 based modding tools - the Rage SDK.

Sorry Im not 11 years old, and I have no intention of ever playing a Zelda game with its cutesy cudly image and horrible motion controls. Plus Nintendo are shameless when it comes to rehashing the same title over and over again.

The game does succeed to pose a challenge, Skyward Sword is much better than Twilight Princess, it's harder and has many fixes of the core gameplay, the late-wallet issue is fixed and there have been many alterations that have improved it, you just have to play it.

MotionControls are not terrible if done properly, Aiming-mode is however buggy and goes out of alignment fast, The wii sensor bar could be improved to feature a 4-dot zone around the edges of the TV set, specifically adjusted to the exact panel size whatever the aspect ratio or wideness.

However the new instrument, harp, it definitely not a replacement for ocarina, since you just wave back and forth, there is really no user interaction to make a tune, too little factors, only the speed of the cycle and at which tone you begin or stop or i just don't know how to play it , this instrument seems to be for background following of the soundtrack or song , i was expecting something that could be interactive like ocarina - that's really the only downside of skyward sword so far for me.

The legend of zelda is like starcraft, the formula is pefrect, change it too much and you don't have a zelda game anymore. I have never felt it needs some violent change, if yes, then you can't call it a zelda game anymore.

The complainers of the "same game" are not really fans i could conclude, so we should take that input seriously, obviously credibility is not high.

The media makes the opinion of it's conumers that it exploits, there is a great wii-exclusion all around the gaming media particularly western amerian and united kingdome media, they don't understand the japanese quality - the best quality in the world.

Examples like VGA 2011 which featured the TheBlackBaron exposing the anti-wii practices of the VGAs, for 2011 VGA finally gave Zelda the Hall of Fame award, an series entry to the legendary status. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE0SRD_IG0g (the actual talk start at 1:50)

GINX TV from UK is another of sorts, while they have wide variety, including donwloadable XBLA and Steam games, they do mostly Sony and Xbox showcases all the time whever i switch to the channel.

There is a great anti-wii thing going on just because it's not in HD.

As the media prepared for Starcraft 2, they said it's so great nothing has changed dramatically, and changing the forumula would have ruined the legacy of starcraft and the national sport that is so strong in korea. But i agree with this, it's how it's meant to be and you see these are the PC oriented media for a PC only game - console media is inexperienced, unprofessional and plainly wrong.

You have to see the industry from above, many dont.

Wasn't planning on liking it that much because Twilight Princess turned me off so much (hey lets force you through a horrible kidsy little town and just when you think you are free, BAM stupid Wolf mode with a little shadow demon guy to insult you non-stop).

However Skyward Sword has been very enjoyable, I'm finding it has a darker more advlt theme talking about stuff like murder and agony openly. Also they give you a sword and throw you into combat much quicker... like the old Zelda's... instead of an excessive 2 hour hand holding tutorial mode.

The refined sword controls using the Wii MotionPlus is great, its like swinging your sword in Red Steel 2 if anyone played that. There are times when you must be quick and clever and do a specific swing (such as from low to high to flip a creature over to expose its vulnerable belly) and the motion controls feel less gimmicky and more like they are adding to the gameplay.

Take it from this crotchey old DOS gamer, Skyward Sword can be a lot of fun if you can get past the cutesy stuff (much less this time thankfully).

I'm 27 and I do intend to play Skyward Sword to 100% completion. That's what I've done with every other LoZ, that's what I'll continue to do.

If you don't like it, that's fair enough, but why stereotype?

I used to feel this and think if in a perfect world where business didn't overtake original purpose all the time it'd be nice but if it happened we'd be the ones getting done over again. Competition rarely benifits costumers now, just look at clones that are cheap knock offs that somehow end up profitting enough to continue to make money but the original sinks under unless they make huge cuts in quantity and quality, that situation would only be made worse, except you could buy any game on any console because there is only one.
On of my pet peeves is when a company will make a game, you follow it and enjoy it, then they'll switch systems on you, on top of that they'll release different parts of the story on different handhelds in forms that never match up to the standard of the original game, they make it either insanely expensive to follow thier product, or impossible, and if you do your not rewarded with a decent standard.

On topic: No I bought a wii fairly soon after it's release, barely owned any games, never finished TP, had the most enjoyment of anything in FF:My Life As King, which would have been better off for touch screen on the DS or an actually controller, or as a pc point and click. Even most of the big titles never appealed to me, partly because my hands shake so much the finer movements of the game are a painful experience, but the handheld controller always feels so tacked on it doesn't really fit well and most of the time the motion controls are tacked on too, frankly the controller itself is just so limiting. I look at skyrim sword and think that looks kinda good, I may enjoy it as much as past Links but think about swinging round the pad and don't regret I've sold the console. Frankly I'm surpised there hasn't been a new console from nintendo yet after they decided to start so far behind the others without HD or Hard Drives or a basic live service that doesn't mean you have to buy DLC all over again if you replace a console. Plus I've probally played it, collect these 7 things in different weather enviroments to get these 3 things to do the one thing you do every time.

I don't like games with cartoonish graphic style.

Fair point and subjective opinion.

Advice from a pro: Graphics are the least important aspect of a game. Nintendo and Japanese graphics overall have always been childish, so that means i shouldn't play the best gameplay in the world?

One of the other things is ... i honsetly don't really like the modern western titels so much, always talking about wars and stupid peacemaking crap (which is right the opposite in the real world)

For a subjective opinion such as this example that graphics is something i do not like, is totally fair.

But the complainers who claim to not be zelda fans saying that they won't play it because it's same old game is a bit invalid. The forumla is similar, but i don't see the same things, as in stuff that is great is the mighty rule "don't fix what's not broken" ... and that's exactly what nintendo does, why would they change the currency or whatever , "oh we'll now put in gold, stone food and wood , just so it's not the same, just plain ol' rupees were completely fine tho" - so what would they call the game Age of Zelda ?

The compainers need some really good explanation, arguments to make it valid.

Just look at western games, same thing all the time:
- blood
- war
- guns
- boobs
- terrorists
- celebrities without any gaming bacground posing on show floors
- propaganda infested game stories (anti middle east)

The above is depressing material, and i don't see fun in that.

MW1 MW2 MW3 ... same thing different name no ? Well the gameplay formula does work, i might not like it because im playing it for so long ... (cod2 mostly)

I'd love to play Zelda again, but sadly the Wii doesn't seem to have enough of my kind of games to warrant me buying the console. :( Maybe I'll get one super duper cheap after the next generation of consoles comes out or something.

If I did have it, I would stop Skyrim to play it, just because I can see Skyrim lasting a long long time for me and if I waited until I was finished I might never get round to Zelda.
