How often will you save in NV?

Meh, remembering to hit F5 every now and then is a lot less of a chore than repeating a long wasteland trek because you got careless and failed to notice a deathclaw hunting you.

Rule number 1 Save, save, save and save some more

For those people who only use the auto save or only 1, 2 or 3 saves, you have been very very lucky. For me, and I play on the 360, I have lernt to save every 10 minutes or so. Nothing more frustrating the console or comptuer (when playing other games like Daggerfall or Morrowind or Oblivion) freezes something totally out of your control.

I usually have about 7-10 saves per character. I am guessing FNW will be like Oblvion and Fallout 3 where you have one save just before exiting the Sewers or Vault so if you want to make a new character you do not have to go through the tutruial if you do not want to.

Once in the game, I have a save for when I stop playing. I have other saves as back ups when I play just in case of crashes. Nothing worse playing a 3 hour marathon and the console or computer freezes and you have to redo everything all over agian. I have a save before I accept a quest. I have another save before level ups or buying or selling something just in case I hit the wrong button and I didn't mean to.

Well I guess I save enough
and I always make the save in a different file rather than just keeping 1-3 slots

Probably about the same as FO3. Which is to say, my save number is up to 12,000.

About every two or three minutes.

I'm really paranoid about saving...

I have extreme OCD (Don't really have OCD, I don't think) about saving. I must have had bad experiences with saving in other games, don't remember, but now I save way too much. Save before talking, save when I see enemies, save randomly every once in a while, save before opening door, save after opening door. I really hate doing things over. So, I'll probably end up with over a thousand different saves by the end of my first playthrough.

I am the same way. Too many experiences getting hooked on a new game for 4 hours, not saving once, then crashing / Game Boy power dying on me and having to completely restart.

Also in fallout 3 once my speech skill was 100 i would save before any speech checks. Speech Skill 100 SHOULD = 100% success, i dont think its right that i miss out / dont complete the quest the way I want because of luck (and by Luck I don't mean the SPECIAL skill, that would be fine)

EDIT: I also make multiple save slots, because one time I was playing a game and it crashed AS I WAS SAVING, resulting in a corrupt file and me having to restart.

Before and after big fights, before entering a building and after exiting a building.

Saving before every VATS shot seems a little excessive to me, in fact, I usually avoid saving during combat, but I definately make sure to save often. I generally save before making any important decisions, before entering or exiting an interior cell, after large fights, and just regularly when I'm walking around, or before I do anything that I'm not sure I'll survive, aside from the possibility of dying or making a choice I come to regret, when playing Bethesda games saving often is especially wise because there's a risk of the game crashing or some game breaking bug occurring, I don't expect New Vegas to differ from Fallout 3 in that respect.

During, after and if need be during a big fight or a fight against a tough enemy, to me a big fight includes five or more hostiles but if theres more then 10-15 enemies i'll make a new save after killing about half.
Before entering a load door and before fast traveling to a place that might have enemies nearby, to many times in FO3 have i fast traveled to the metro tunnel to sell sugar bombs to murphy to be greeted by a group of talon mercs waiting for me when everything loads.
Every 5-15 minutes if nothing else is happening, such as just walking to a important place or just randomly exploring.
After unlocking or hacking a lock or computer that took more then 5 tries of having to exit the mini game then reenter.
Of course right before turning the game off.
