How often will you save in NV?

Wondering who here saves before every VATS shot, and reload right away if your VATS attack misses. How often do you save the game?

I don't go as far as saving before VATS shots, but "early and often" is always a good route!
Usually before Conversations with important people for speech checks. (on 2nd play-throughs or thereafter)

A save before every VATS attempt? LOL. I'll pass on that. I would've never gotten out of the Vault at that rate. That's kind of cheating...

I never save until I'm ready to quit. I just let the auto-save do the work.

Auto save works fine for me... I might save before I enter a locked room with baddies on the other side, or when I've been in an area that hasn't autosaved for a while... other wise just when I exit the game. You don't seriously save before each VATS shot do you? That must make the game painfully slow.

I've had too many experiences where I have accidentally overwritten an auto-save without wanting too.

The only time I saved before taking a shot was when I was practicing becoming a sniper only in fifth playthrough.

I'm usually pretty obsessive about saving so often and early like Mike.

Usually every 20 minutes or so. Not too often. Auto save turned off, too many times has it corrupted my Oblivion/FO3 game. Never quick save. I may save if I am sure I am going to be in a large battle though. Also usually making a new save every time, overwriting a save too much in these games can cause it to be corrupted.

About every 10 mins, coz it just crash at the most frakken worst time. That's how bad TES4 and Fallout 3 was when they first came out.

Before important conversations, and usually before changing cells or before big battles, because those can cause crashes.

Whenever I feel like it. Although, crashes In Fallout 3 have made that pretty much every 10 minutes.

Oh boy.

In RPG's i pretty much save after every fight or major event. When something bad happens to someone because they only had one save (Which i see quite a few times over the internet), i get quite a smile.

I only keep two saves. The auto-save and my own save. If the area I'm in is save worthy I'll enter a save so it separates itself from the auto-save.

There's been plenty of times though when I didn't sleep, wait, or save and I wound up dying 20-30 minutes in. I'm talking walking across the map without the ability to fast travel yet. Frustrating, as I had to start all over again. I turn the game off then.

If I remember I will save once every 10-15 minutes. Other than that, if I walk into a place and killing the 5 guys in there takes ALL my ammo, I will reload an autosave from timeto time and try again to do it more 'efficiently'.

Good grief. Before every VATS shot? Is your ammo and AP that precious?

I usually save right before entering a new settlement or building, and upon leaving. I also save right before quests (or as soon as one starts) and immediately after finishing a quest. Other than that, I let the autosave do its thing. I also make new save files with regularity. Every 3 saves I create a new save file, then after 3 saves over it, I create a new one. Something I picked up as a habit years ago to ward against corrupted save files, not that I've ever had that problem with Fallout 3. By the end of a run with a single character, I usually have over 100 save files. Before I start a new character, I go back and delete every save file for the older character except for the last one, and keep it as sort of an archive in case I ever want to revisit them. I also keep a "Quick Start" save file so that I can skip the Vault intro (sometimes I feel like playing through it, but most of the time I don't).

I'm gonna limit Auto-save to when I sleep and only use the real save in a friendly settlement.
That way if I die without saving for 3 hours then so be it.
My own fault that I got killed in the first place, and I want it to hurt.

I don't do that but I will save often and save saves. I generally save just before accepting quests, just after accepting them, after completing and before entering into big battles. Oh, and I always save near the beginning of the game. I like major point saves and if I lose a gun fight, I don't mind replaying that part.

I have extreme OCD (Don't really have OCD, I don't think) about saving. I must have had bad experiences with saving in other games, don't remember, but now I save way too much. Save before talking, save when I see enemies, save randomly every once in a while, save before opening door, save after opening door. I really hate doing things over. So, I'll probably end up with over a thousand different saves by the end of my first playthrough.

Not before every VATS shot, but I save fairly often. Before a fight, after a fight, at various quest stages, after a long walk across the wastes (especially if there haven't been any autosaves in a while), after a particularly good loot find, etc. I mostly use quicksave, but I also try to make a proper save for major quest points.

I save a lot, but I hardly ever reload. Never for failed attempts like speech challenges, lockpicking, or VATS. I just hate losing too much progress if I die or my game crashes.

At least after a difficult battle. Also, before entering a new area. Never know what hilarious shenanigans the engine might be up to next.

Very often. Gamebryo games like to crash, and I have a feeling New Vegas will have that habit as well.

Often, and I always make definitive saves to get rid of corruption. The only drawback to me is that I have to delete several gigs worth of save files if I forget to delete them regularly.
