So how Toonami?

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 4:37 pm

Toonami been on for quite awhile and I decided what do people here think of it right now. Does it live up to the feelings of awesomeness you felt when it was big or do you found it to be a shell of it former self? I personally think Toonami is in a healing state where shows are slowly being recovered but I just wish they replace some shows and replace them with Naruto shippuden, Fairy tail, Evangelion, Death note, Code Geass, and other anime shows that receive good praise.

I haven't been able to see any of the reboot yet, not having cable and all (just Netflix and Amazon Prime). I heard that Deadman Wonderland is amazing, though. I haven't heard too much about anything else besides that, though.

I watch a good chunk of the shows on it every Saturday(Bleach, Naruto, Soul-Eater, Tenchi Muyo GXP, Inuyasha). I've heard a few pluses about Deadman wonderland, but I missed the first few episodes so I said screw it, catch it when restarts. I wish they'd ditch one or two of the other shows(Like Thundercats..bleck) and add in One Piece, I remember when that used to be on in the afternoons around 3pm or so, I loved it, and then poof! It disappeared.

I want some better shows put on, more diverse then mainstream ones. We are a long way off from that for now, so I want Gintama, .hack, and most especially Bobobo back

I wish they would put on different shows. I haven't watched it in months so I'm not sure the exact schedule. When I did stop watching it was nothing but Naruto, Bleach, FMA, GitS, Bebop, & Inyuasha. All shows they've had on a ton of times. I know they can add different shows. I've seen them show things like Read or Die! & Bobobo (like Judge metioned). There is a lot of dubbed shows they could throw on that I doubt they ever shown.

I have to agree that Toonami is in a "healing state" right now as they try to get informed as to what fans, veteran and new, want out of the program block. Personally, I think they need to ditch Inuyasha, and swap it for uncut DBZ. Definitely want to see the return of Outlaw Star, Gundam Wing, and show something like One Piece, properly show One Piece mind you and not that bull crap 4kids did with those freaking poison cups things.

One thing i'm not 100% sure on is if they can show Shippuden since I vaguely remember Disney getting hold of the license to showcase it on Disney XD.

Between Hulu, Netflix, and other streaming sites I can watch any of the shows on toonami when ever I want. With out comericials, for the most part. I really see no reason to even hook up cable to a tv any more.

I don't ever watch it. Firstly, I don't have cable at college. Secondly, I don't really watch cable TV even when I have it. Between Hulu, Netflix, CrunchyRoll, Amazon Instant, and all the other services out there I rarely turn on my cable box.

As much as I love me some DBZ, I'll stick with Inuyasha on this one just because they finally finished Inuyasha a little while back, and I'm assuming they'll be showing the full series, and I'd like some closure on the series.

i doubt it, alot of times the anime or tv shows are licensed per season. which is why a lot of television channels will play a specific set of reruns. its kind of hard to explain, its something you just notice when you watch a massive amount of tv, like we used to in my house.

There is no Dragonball Z, Tenchi, Reboot, or Sailormoon, therefore it svcks, and is not Toonami.

Well, there is no Tenchi with Tenchi as a young man, but there is Tenchi Muyo GXP, and it's pretty decent show if you give it a chance ^^

Personally, I like GXP more. The only bad part of it is that little pervy robot, but at least he's not in every single episode or is often kept to a minimum.

Yeah, that robot is annoying as hell. I was laughing my [censored] off though when the female robot forced him to hook up with her, and he's been all downcast and non-pervy for the last few episodes. Loved last nights with the giant robot!

It was hilarious. "Hey, mind if I borrow this for a bit?" after demolishing the ground forces with ease.

yeah, that was pretty funny. I'm interested in learning how it managed to manifest the wings of light without a Jurian tree on board, because the Kamidake had it's tree removed before the Galaxy military(pirates) confiscated it.

I love Tenchi Muyo but I only like Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi Universe, I didn't like Tenchi in Toyko and I haven't seen GXP.

I apologize in advance, with the way quotes seem to be being handled, I have no idea how the multi-quote function works, it doesn't appear to separate them so I can reply to them bit by bit, so I'm replying in order with double space between each reply.

Yeah, but Seina isn't a relative of Tenchi from what I can tell, Tenchi was actually a Jurian himself, hence why he could do that. Seina is just a regular human who apparently has extraordinary bad luck.

I remember reading something a while back about how they couldn't acquire the license for DBZ right now due to a lower budget, but that they hoped to eventually get it back. Personally I don't mind if they don't, as long as they continue to show new stuff. Who wants to continuously watch the same thing over and over, just for the sake of nostalgia? I like being introduced to new animes.

Really? I enjoyed All of the Tenchi Muyo's, but especially Tenchi in Tokyo due to the introduction of Sakuya, who is one of the best looking female characters in any anime, ever. LOL.

On another note related to GXP, I find it awesome, yet hilarious that the main characters name, is the same as my now 5 year old daughters name, and even pronounced closely(we put more stress on the ei, as in See yen a, compared to Say na.

Edit; About Inuyasha: advlt Swim's revived Toonami block has expressed interest in broadcasting InuYasha: The Final Act, and mentioned that it was one of the "many shows we've been looking at", although it's unknown at this time if/when it will run on US television

So, here's hoping!

@Starwulf, you just asked why anyone would want to watch the same shows over and over for Nostalgias sake, but really, who doesn't?

Why do you buy movies on bluray? Why do you watch the same shows on reruns flipping through the channels? It's a fairly common thing.

Rewatching old shows is both fun and entertaining. I would love to watch the Funi or Ocean dub of DBZ, or even the original Japanese audio with subs on Toonami.

Depends on which saga. Saiyan, Vegeta and Freiza saga is all they need to give the show monster ratings.

Don't care about the Buu saga, and GT is just asking to kill Toonami(again).

The Cell saga wasn't too bad either.
