How To Unlock Any Door

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:18 pm

All doors will eventually re-lock themselves.

Especially those used by NPCs, as it's in their scripts. I seem to recall trying to get Aela to unlock Pavo's (sp?) house outside his mine, but she said, "Can't do that!" Never tried again until yesterday when I was in Windhelm on my latest character with Lydia in tow. I'd just started Blood on the Ice and was ready to go to Hjerim. Of course, the door is locked (master level) but on a whim I asked Lydia to unlock it.

"Got it!" she said, though she didn't appear to do anything but stand in front of the door. I looked away, then back again, and now the door read "open Hjerim." Good grief, her first lockpicking, master level lock and no lockpick, and it's nothing to her. Later I tried to get her to unlock Calixto's House of Curiosities, but she said, "Sorry, can't do that."

Does NOT work on Cell-Doors. Only way to unlock a Cell-Door is via Picklocking or actually Key.

But there are times when your follower may unlock Cell-Doors but only if they have to go thru the door to get to you. (Example of this: Go on a Balcony of a house then wait until the doors are locked again. Then use Unrelenting Force on your follower to push him off the Balcony and then he'll get back up onto the Balcony by unlocking the Cell-Door, which is the Front Door, then appearing at the Balcony Door.)

So.. I guess it can be possible but will be very hard to do so.

Do you mean:
Spoiler
Dawnstar Sanctuary? I'd be interested to know if it works on that door, too. On my dude I destroyed the DB and came across that door, but the dialogue option to open the door doesn't exist if you just discover the door. <_<

Thats the one^. I stumbled upon it before I destroyed the DB and before I knew it wasn't their main hideout. I've been dying to get in ever since. :)

Me too. It kinda' annoys me that you can 'hack' your way into the Falkreath one, but not the Dawnstar one. <_<

I've seen the inside fully upgraded on my chick, but I want access on my dude. :P
