How do you feel about male bosmer being short?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:53 pm

Personally, I love it. I think male bosmer are my favorite characters to play, and it's something really unique about the Elderscroll series. Seems to be less noticable in Skyrim, though... Did they make them taller? I get the feeling not everyone's as much a fan, though.

What do you guys think?

I've always liked it, it creates more variety between the elves imo.

Bosmer are very agile and quick, it makes sense that they are small. :D
That's why they are my favourite elf race.

They've gotten taller since Oblivion, that's for sure. This time around, they're not much shorter than Dunmer.

I wish you could variate height in a larger degree, doesn't make that much sense that everyone within a race will have the same height, granted the baby Falmers freak me out. :D

I wish the bosmer would be smaller in Skyrim, you almost don't notice they're smaller.

I like how the female Bosmers are the taller of the two sixes. ^^ I wouldn't mind both the male and female Bosmers being a touch shorter though.

They were noticeably shorter in MW and OB, but I guess it's too much work altering stealth kill animations unless you like your bosmer slicing a Nord throat at chest level. Would have been cool if they hopped up on the victims back and then sliced the throat.

I think it's great because switching to first person view and walking in cities is almost like looking through my own eyes, except that I'm even smaller than the average Skyrim Bosmer...

Bosmer are noticeably taller to me in Skyrim. They're still extremely creepy though. Those big dark soulless eyes, or those empty blind soulless looking eyes, or you can go for best of creepy and get one of each. When they're in sneak mode those dangly gremlin hands. Walking around with a bow out they look like they remind me how those trolls from oblivion move that kind of monkey shuffle. Bosmers really make my skin crawl I don't know how bethesda makes these wood elves such creeps.

Oblivion offered more eyes variation for the elves... I don't like that black 'alien' eyes they have now.

I used to mod my Bosmers in Oblivion to be as short as hobbits. It was very amusing whenever a tiny furious Bosmer attacked my nord. On a side note, since argonians are supposed to be reptilians and all that, shouldn't male argonians be smaller than the females. At least in the "real world" male birds and reptiles are usually smaller than their female counterparts.

I do think they are a bit on the creepy side (especially their black eyes), but I like them that way. I think their looks fit their lore much better in Skyrim than in Oblivion (where they just looked like short people with big ears).

I always imagined those eyes as trademark. http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/www.ign.com/9109/2011/11/woodelf_morrowind-600x459.jpg

The Bosmer were shorter in MW and OB.

The reason I didn't play a Bosmer in Skyrim was for this noticeable factor. It feels almost like a little bit of a lore break for them. So it bothers me.

I use to have the coolest Bosmer. But I'm not playing them anymore.

I like the Alien eyes to be honest, that's what made them cool and what attracted me to their appearance. Not so much Oblivion.

If I remember correctly, in Morrowind Bosmer males were 0.8 in comparison to the standard body height and females were 0.95.

I'm just glad they haven't been reduced to comedy props as in MW or OB. I haven't met one annoying Bosmer yet.

Does anyone think the taller average height of Bosmeri women suggests a matriarcial society? Do we know much about Bosmeri culture other than they're humanitarians? On another note, I would prefer it both genders got a teeny bit shorter to make them a bit more more like traditional elves, and to make then stand out more as a race, I barely can tell sometimes if I'm fighting a wood elf or just someone with wierd skin.

Yeah Oblivion they didn't creep me out so much, although there were a few that did.
In Morrowind it was the female bosmers like Gildan and Golbidier had those "I'm going to devour everything you love" kind of eyes like the Skyrim Wood Elves.

Something has been bugging me about those hands on the male wood elves at first they looked really shifty but I think it's that their index fingers seem super long. Normally a mans index finger would be shorter than their ring finger.
