[REQ] hunger, thirst, exhaustation?

From an immersion standpoint, I would really like to see this sort of mod myself. At the very least, I would like to see eating and sleep requirements implemented.

I'm sure all these Ideas will make their way into a mod, Im all for it, i used them in oblivion for what was available.

These are great points/ideas indeed:
- More realistic weighting of foods and ingredients
- A way to collect water from various sources (ie Snow, Rivers, Lakes, Wells, etc.)
- More cooking recipes
- The need to sleep
- The need to wear warm clothing/armor
- The fact that movement and activity can help sustain your body heat
- Fire/Forges/Torches/etc. helping to keep your body warm
- The ability to make your own campfires
- Penalties for being too cold/hungry/thirsty/tired but not necessarily death
- Bonuses for being well rested and fed, for having your thirst quenched (which is a constant battle), and for being warm

What would be interesting to see is your own breath when your outside, depends where your at, as I notice theres some
areas that dont seem as cold or not cold vs other areas. especially on a nice sunny day.

- Fire/Forges/Torches/etc. helping to keep your body warm
Even just going into taverns, or Inns to warm up, we could have it where theres a warmth or something bar like we do with health, stamina, and magika to give
us an indication of how warm or cold we are and or are getting, of course the bar speed would fluctuate based on where we are at, and what we are wearing,
so now wearing warm clothes, and armor, even helmets, or caps of some sort help keep heat in.

For this to happen we would have to make some adjustments and maybe some new clothes, armor for these purposes.

It makes alot of sense to do this, I mean why go through the work to render, snow, and blow wind, and snow drfts blowing off of mountains,
or rocks and stuff, if your not going to give your character a realistic sensitivity to heat and cold.

This is BRILLIANT! A warmth bar is a perfect idea, hahaha. Also, if you notice most armor (at least up to Steel) has furs and stuff that pokes out of it, suggesting that the armorsmith actually takes into consideration the fact that it's hella cold in Skyrim. I mean we honestly don't know if there are furs lining other armors because you can't really see anything underneath where the armor is. Still, it would be great to see some more armors that look heavier and warmer. Like heavy furs and stuff, or furs accentuating the heavier armors to make sure the warrior is warm. So far Steel armor is my favorite and in my opinion the most well made armor in the game, it looks the most culturally and regionally realistic while still looking like it would protect you fairly well.

I've decided to do and release such a mod, and will begin to work on it as soon i'll have the game (2 weeks) and the CK will be there.

Hunger and Sleep will not be problems, but Thirst and Warmth should, i think. Equivalents of OBSE functions would be necessary to make them well done, precisely to recognize wells, warm sources, and maybe modded armors.

So the very first version will surely not be the best, but i'll improve it whenever i could.

well - I can live without the warmth feature (would be neat though ^^) considering that "frost resist" should make one less affected by temperature.
Especially thinking about nords.

The race-lore tells us: "The Nords are a tall and fair-haired people from Skyrim who are known for their incredible resistance to cold and even magical frost. "

I can't tell for sure as I am not an incredibly skilled modder but I think it would be rather complicated to take frost resistance(s) (magical or race specific) into consideration (thinking about modded armor... you'll have to take a value that will be there in _every_ armor modded or not... may it be weight or armor value as these are the only ones I can imagine will be available for both vanilla and modded armor... on second thought: armor value isn't that much of an idea - clothing doesn't have it sso there is only weight left... well - but then again: I don't know any numbers that aren't shown in game (didn't to data digging yet ^^) maybe there are more values we just can't see - that's where you modders take the wheel.)

I recall a mod for FNV that calculated ambient temperature based on the current weather. It was used to determine how quickly thirst would increase.

Its possible that you can calculate the ambient temperature by getting what value is being used for ambient lighting in the cell. Brighter vibrant ambient color lighting usually means its sunny and warm. Darker ambient and hues of blue mean its much more cold. Using a formula that checks the current ambient lighting value and the current weather could be a very effective way to check the current ambient temperature. You can also use the lighting values on the player to determine if he/she is standing near a worm light source. Might want to suggest this for the Skyrim script extender if the functionality does not exist. I think that using the lighting values would be a pretty effective way to calculate temperature of a location and the player.

I realise now I should have posted my http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1296435-cooking-somehow-incomplete/page__view__findpost__p__19533121__hl__cooking__fromsearch__1 thread in here: interestingly the poll I set has had pretty overwhelming response of a positive nature for it.

Please, by the nines eights, will some Modder take up the challenge for us?

I for one would LOVE a hardcoe mode....Dont know why Bethesda doesnt take Obsidians good ideas and implement them in TES considering they own both franchises....dumb...

Anyways, I love it when people talk about how "un-needed" a certain mod is...If it is so un-needed then dont use it! Keep it to yourself, why even post here if you hate the idea so? It boggles my mind that in pretty much EVERY mod thread there is always SOMEONE who hasto tell everyone why that mod shouldnt be made and why they wont use it...If people are in the thread who want the mod, I guarentee they DO NOT care why you wont use it, so there is no point in even telling anyone...Whynot go be useless elswhere?

And the point is not that there is already an abundance of food, but that food is pretty much USELESS at this point...Sorry but 10 points of health doesnt do [censored]! So if there was another use for food besides making my inventory have 10,000 items of uselessness(sp?lol), Id welcome it....

Ok, back to the topic...

WHY BETH, WHY? WHY did you not make a hardcoe mode!?

Someone please, fix yet another one of Beths mistakes....

A hunger/thirst mod should also have options to reduce the food/drink availability (i.e. loot found in form of food/drink). That's what Basic Primary Needs did for TES4, and dd it very well at that.

I'm sure that if it was implemented, the number one thread here would be [REQ] Remove HC System.

Most players don't want that, even if Joe Pinball's pool got good results. Plus making it optional would have forced the devs to spend time on it, and not on something else. It's not a problem for me to let HC mods up to modders.

So I've thought again about the mod, and i'm pretty sure that at least one vanilla function will let make the player able to fill of water from wells, and recover from cold near some warm sources. This would make things not as bad as i firstly expected, until the systems could be improved by SKSE.
