[SPOILER] Imperials are such bastards

They're not perfect, but they do tend to have a healthy interest in putting a stop to world-ending catastrophes.

well this is my perspective on the whole thing.

you have the empire who is now governed by those who are not of the same blood line that we know from past games, things have probably drastically changed from the empire we knew. They are (in my opinion) trying to erase the Septim line from the world by A. banning the worship of Talos and B. wiping out the ones who were sworn to protect that line with their very lives.

Then you have the Stormcloaks Who are the Natives of Skyrim. They have probably groan tired of this "new" empire and are probably trying to go back to the only other way that they know of. Their traditional ways that existed before the empire.

its a video that shows the intro tutorial of the game... it may been taken down though

It may be legal to record it but Zenimax still has full authority to pull any video that they dont want on sights such as youtube. any company does.

You can fight the Empire in Skyrim. I myself can't decide what I'm going to do now.

I agree. =( I'm at a loss on who to fight for.

OP makes a good point, even if the truth about Skyrim is a little different than described.

I'm going to fight for the Stormcloaks. Why? Because...I just deleted everything I was going to say because I realized it might be politically charged. Oh well. Down with the Empire! Say no to tyranny!

I want to be a good guy on the "Good Team"!
I didnt see much of the leak, but it looked alot like the StormCloaks were badguys who started the civil war.
I was going to join them (I like blue more than red), but this has made it hard to choose! Which side is the obvious good/evil?!

Spoiler
Ofcourse, the Empire sound bad because THEY are the ones who captured YOU!
I need a little push!

And who is to say that Ulfric Stormcloak will be any different than the Empire? He'll probably end up becoming another tyrant just as bad if not worse than the Empire. 'Meet the new boss same as the old boss.' You know what? To the nine hells with both of them.

If my Dragonborn had his way, he would use the rebels to destroy the Imperials and destroy the weakened rebels in turn, claiming all Skyrim for himself.

I planned on role-playing an imperial from Cyrodiil visiting Skyrim for a certain business opportunity (not going to go into it), but how can I justify an Imperial suddenly siding with the Stormcloaks, killing other fellow Imperials. I guess I'll just have to role-play another race, since Imperials are apparently 'evil' this game. :(

Sure, why dont WE become kings?!
And then...our long lost brother will tell us some bad news about some crazy plague heading this way in about a year!
;)

Didnt Alduins wall dictate that the dragonborn would settle the civil war, and stop alduin?

I don't think they're 'evil' in this game. You can fight for them!

Though I agree. I want a reason to fight for either the Empire or the Stormcloaks.

I'm liking the Stormcloaks less because they started this whole conflict.

As i've said hundreds of times - if the Empire turns out to be the "Bad" choice, and the Stormcloaks are "Good" - I will be severely disappointed.

Elder Scrolls games are about freedom and choice. Both factions being morally gray sounds, and fits the spirit of the franchise so much better.

And those Imperial cloaks are so snazzy. :banghead:

it pretty much depends on how skyrim was doing in the previous rule.
the stormcloaks and their rebellion may have been forced to act due to the state of the country.
the thief might have said things were nice before but then he said he wasn't even from the country (he'd probably say anything if it meant living).

as long as gray doesn't mean that both are A-holes i'm all for gray (hated that in the witcher series).

But in the beginning
Spoiler
an Imperial captain orders your execution, after a Nord feels sorry for the player and wants to release him. I'd assume this would happen even if you're an Imperial. Plus you're forced to kill a good bit of Imperial soldiers in a cave immediately after.
