Import fallout 3 character

Post » Sun Dec 26, 2010 6:52 pm

No you cannot. Its a new story in a new place, 3 years in the future, with very little to do with the events of Fallout 3. I think they need to officially announce this so people stop asking. Its been a long 9 months. -_-

I thought they did officially explain it in a couple of interviews that it's not possible?

Or you could just take a screenshot or a picture with your mobile phone (for xbox and ps).
Then spend 15 to 40 minutes to recreate the face in character creation.

Well I actually hope for a DLC that is non-canon which brings a small shop in the middle of nowhere that has all the unique weapons and armors in fallout 3 that make no sense to have in New Vegas lore-wise.
Cause there are some weapons I will really miss.

The gun runners are in the game. They're known for packing some firepower.

Yeah but I mean stuff like Tesla Cannon and Auto-Axe only exist on the east coast because they're new designs.
How wound the Gun Runners get them?
For what reason did they go to east coast?
Stuff like that.

If it's in the vanilla game it's going to be considered canon and they need some way to explain the stuff being there. (Heavy Incinerator for example is in New Vegas. How did it get there? Who created it?)
This DLC would be completely non-canon and only for flavor really. :)

I don't understand why people get so attached to their fallout 3 characters that it's impossible to even think of creating a new one for New Vegas.

what i dont understand is how people could even get attached to their barely customized and typical fallout 3 character.. you could barely make a variety for a fo3 char. "hey guys im a 19 year old lone wanderer level 30!"

Even if you could. I wouldn't. I like to start new games, at the bottum of the barrel, not with all the stuff I gathered from fallout 3.

I use mods anyway. It would be impossible to import a modded character.

Has It been confirmed that there isn't going to be that option?
Dunno. There's been other topics on it, and truthfully, I couldn't care less. If it's there, I'm not using it.

I have to agree. Unless a gamer's on a time budget, I rather discover all the new perks and level rewards in the game. If it was imported in XP, we'd be maxed out from the start.

Bottomline, importing from Fallout 3 won't happen.

I remember reading a PAX playthrough that the incinerator might be in. I'm sure Obsidian could come up a good reason for that wepon, not so much the tesla cannon though.

Loved the heavy incinerator and more expanse on flame based weapons is always welcomed.

Well yeah, no one in Vegas would know let alone care about what's going on in the Capital Wasteland. Most of them probably don't even know the Capital Wasteland exists. I doubt the whole Purifier scenario will be mentioned at all in New Vegas.

Without reliable communications or any kind of trade between the East and West Coasts it's unlikely someone in NV would know what was going on the Capital Wasteland or that it even was there....it may as well be in China. Only the Enclave and BOS have the means to contact the opposite coast in real-time (radio and residual pre-war comsat capability), and they aren't going to share that with anyone....the Western BOS isn't even on speaking terms with thier Eastern comrades so thier capability isn't even being used. Actually making the journey would be a epic adventure in of itself....in FO3 the only people not in a faction known to have done it was Harold and a Enclave deserter and his family. Until things improve to the point where there are permanent trade routes across the (former) US there will be no timely or accurate news.

I wouldnt mind to have a single man saying 'I've seen it from the East Coast. The Capital Wasteland! Washington D.C.! They have a Purifier!' but because there is no global news media, everyone thinks he's just a delusional waster.

Why would people in the West Care about that? Their water is not Radioactive. At least it's not in the originals.

It's not meant to be about care, it's just a waster lucky enough to reach vegas trying to spread the word, but no one cares/think he's insane.

Yeah, but why would the messenger guy care in the first place? West coast wasn't near as devestated as the east, most water on the west coast isn't radioactive at all.'

Of course, unless that guy started out on the east coast then traveled to the west. He'd be like, "We have clean water!" and the west coasters would be like, "So what?"

Fair Enough.

Would be interesting to be in an NCR base. They have alot of radio equipment. You come across a radio operator messing around trying to get a signal. He's going through the channels when you hear "Hey all you in the D.C wasteland it's me Three Dog! [fades to static] Radio OP turns to you and says "atmospheric bounce, DC that's as far as I have ever been able to reach."

I wont be "importing" my character per say, but I am roleplaying that he is the same person.

You see, the Lone Wanderer, is based off me in real life. I always roleplay as myself, so I will just roleplay that he went to Vegas during the three years. It would be weird to not be playing as me.

in regards to whether or not people would know about clean water in the east....sigh.....i think some of you people argue just to flippin argue

it would be easy for the makers of NV to determine and implement both sides of this argument.
not each side at the same time, that would be a contradiction. but one or the other....before there's an argument about that.

No. I don't think so since the developers haven't said about it at all. But if you want to play as the same person, you can simply just create a new character with the same skills and SPECIAL.
