An important, desperate question for Gstaff or Bethesda PR o

Will voice commands on the Xbox 360 be Kinect only, or will I be able to use a gaming headset, e.g. Turtle Beaches or Tritons?

I'm pretty sure it's kinect only, but I'm not 100% sure on that  I'm not a kinect fan.

The voice software is part of the Kinect. It's not being added to the game apart from Kinect. That's why you won't see it on the PS3 or PC. This is a Kinect only deal. Now if you have the Kinect hooked up I'm not sure whether or not having a mic will help it pick up better. Anyone know that?

You notice how there is no outrage among PC users over this feature? When we PC users got a (broken) high-res texture pack and (broken) beta patch, the Xbox crowd went ape [censored] with jealousy.

So it's Kinect only? That really blows. I'd never even consider buying a Kinect bar.

Maybe if Beth breaks the kinectability, we will want it?

We bought one for our kids when it came out so they could play the dance game. Other than that I wouldn't have one either. Thankfully I do because the voice commands are looking really cool. I tried the ME3 demo and the voice commands for that worked extremely well for me. But yea, if I didn't have one already I certainly wouldn't buy it for this.

Everyone on every platform can potentially have it, so why not? Pc users may be able to modify custom voice commands...maybe.
Personally, I don't care to draw attention to myself, so shouting at my computer is out of the question, unless I'm over a friends house and we're getting drunk.

Well, PC has the Thuu'mic mod. Has done for a while now. :)

I'm happy with moving sticks and pressing buttons to control my games though, I would screw up a kinect voice system anyway with my every-so-often outbursts at particularly difficult NPC's, or just something happened I didn't like, thus the nearest NPC is to blame! That muddafudding!!!!!!!!!!!

:excl: That looks like a troll post, but I'm biting the bait.

That's because with all kinds of great mods, some silly voice commands aren't really that appealing. As for the patch, we weren't specifically jealous (not myself anyway) of your buggy patch, just eager to have it finalized and released. Negative attitude was much more directed towards Bethesda (not that it was a good thing) for the delay rather than towards PC users getting a bugged beta patch. As for the voice commands, I don't care for them or Kinect itself at all. I would rather just have access to the game's command console, though I know that won't happen this console generation, and I even doubt it would for the next generation too.

With the creation kit, PC users have basically nothing to complain about, so why bring up the fact that they haven't been complaining as much? You realize how broken and bland vanilla Skyrim is in comparison? Yeah, that's what we're stuck with. You have the unofficial patch and console commands and game mods etc and we get a relatively anemic official patch every month or so that fixes a handful of bugs or more recently adds a feature to the game like underwater effects or glitchy kill cams and that's it.

You get all of that too, about a week or two before we do, and you probably have any and all bugs that may have been introduced modded out via unofficial patches before it ever hits consoles. There will almost definitely be dozens of bugs left in the game once Skyrim stops receiving official support, and you'll be able to mod out everything that's left while we just have to deal with them.

On top of all this, you already have a mod that functions just like this Kinect update that isn't even released yet. Sooooo yeah...why would PC users complain, again?

MY personal important question for this Kinect integration is about QUICK SAVES.

Will we only be able to use it with Kinect?, or will it actually be a staple feature in the game? (say via 1.6?)

I REALLY want to know because out of anything the PC has over us, that's 1 feature I would kill for. (And I'm sure alot of others as well, lolz)

So you brought that up pretty much for the sake of it, or to gloat or whatever? It's not even like the situations are comparable, so... =/

I second the notion for Quick Saves being available on consoles.

Voice commands on a mic are one thing, but I can't seriously see myself shouting at the tv.... and learning all the shouts.... About the only thing that comes out of my mouth playing Skyrim are the sarcastic comments about followers, npcs, etc.... I could see a lot of use for voice command, but headset use.... and not really for shouts....

my xbox has one, I'm looking forward to this since hotkeying all those commands breaks the flow of the game for me. Now I just have to memorize them. I have no trouble shouting at the TV, now if I could Fus Roh Dah Snookie and The Situation into the Atlantic Ocean it would bring me much mirth.

I'm about to (try) to tweet to the devs. If not I'll leave Gstaff and some others some messages to hopefully get clarification on this. Because that would make my 2012 if you guys gave us Quicksaves. Just sayin'!

Do you have to actually say the words of the shout for it to work on Kinect?

Because if I had Skyrim on PC with a mic mod, I'd likely just make a lazy farting sound with my mouth in order to shout.
