Info on the 15 black book powers?

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 1:29 pm

Correct. It affects only the perks. Not the level in the tree. In other words if I had 98 in smithing, and I had 10 perks and I wanted to "clean out that tree", I would spend 1 dragon soul and recover 10 perks, but my smithing would stay at 98. Hope that made sense.

Sure, but you can always keep leveling any skills all the way to 100, so its still effectively a full respec. In fact, its going to make leveling multiple weapon skills much easier this way.

H/M/S is the only thing it doesn't respec, but eh, this is a fairly limited restriction. Its easy to build balanced characters on that front and use +hp and +mana gear to fit your builds. Its what I usually do for the most part.

So, we're getting 200 skill points AND a respec. Seems like the Christmas Spirits paid a visit to a certain individual
If you mean that skills will go past the 100 point max then you're mistaken, you get double points reading skills books until you hit 100 in that skill and skill books no longer boost that skill, same as before

OP:
book#3
1. It's the black market and he only carries 2000 gold, regardless of speech perks...it's nice to have a portable merchant but 2000 gold is low, he's daedra but can't even afford a single enchanted daedric item

Why would he need those? They arent fire enchanted...

Book #2 (Name, location?)
1. Combat skills 10% more powerful (Confirmation regarding smithing magnitude?)
2. Spells costs 10% less and enchantments 10% better (Would suggest smithing and alchemy are boosted by #1 and #3)
3. Thief skills 10% better (Confirmation regarding alchemy magnitude?)

What does it mean when it says enchantments 10% better. Is it like fortify restoration effect where the enchantment you are currently wearing gets 10% better, or, you activate the power, and now everything else you enchant while the power is active will be 10% better, like you have just drunk a fortify enchanting potion.

Regardless, it looks like the alchemy/smithing/enchanting loop ceiling value has just been raised. Time to re-improve and re-enchant all my gears. :D

Thanks.

One of the books (found during main quest in dumner ruins with telvani guy) perks are shout related.
1. Unrelenting force does more damage and has chance to disintigrate target
2. Fire breath spawns fire wyrm from any enemies killed for 60 seconds to help you.
3. Frost breath freezes enemies.

I took the Skill Point too, but it's not what I though, I thought that by point they meant perk, not level. Anyway, it's not very useful if your char has been playing for any length of time and read those skill books. They're NOT re-readable (I've tried). So would work better for lower level chars. ALSO, I'm wondering how this will effect reading the Oghma Infinium AFTER obtaining this power. Double up?

On the Dremora, Butler, all the way, he's awesome.

My mistake was even greater: I was thinking about perk points. But we get to respec anyways so, all is good ;)

But the books are re-readable. Just re-read one, and it takes you back to the end of that book, and you can pick another option if you do not like the one you got. Then you click on the book to leave.

So its been said the DLC brings 15 new powers split into 5 black books, each one allowing you to pick one of three options. Basically like Nocturnal blessings or Paartunaax meditations. Anyone found any and would like to share?

Compiled data edited in as we go, I'm scouring the dark corners of the internets to fill in the blanks as we speak;

You can have ONE power from each book, total 5 powers, active at any time. They can be swapped, though. This list does not try to present them in a specific order as the info on that is too confusing and innacurate.

From Raven Rock Mine: "THE WINDS OF CHANGE" ... video confirmed
1. "Scholar's insight"; 2 skill points instead of 1 from skill books
2. "Companions' insight"; Attacks spells and shouts do no damage to followers
3. "Lover's insight"; +10% damage to opposite six, 10% better prices from opposite six (need to confirm if stacking with the Speech perk and Agent of Dibella)

Need name/Location Shadow Regent

"UNTOLD LEGENDS" (Benkongerike) ... video confirmed
1."BLACK MARKET" Summon a Dremora to act as a trader (Gold appears a measely 2K, sells ebony and glass items in one video, not affected by perks)
2. "DREMORA BUTLER" Summon a Dremora to carry your excess items (Weight capacity unknown?)
3. "BARDIC KNOWLEDGE" Magical drum appears, acting as and AoE buff to friendlies' stamina regen (Magnitude?)

"Epistolary Acumen" (From Main Story in dumner ruins with telvani guy)
1. Unrelenting force does more damage and has chance to disintegrate target
2. Fire breath spawns fire wyrm from any enemies killed for 60 seconds to help you.
3. Frost breath freezes enemies.

"Unearthed / Filament & Filigree" (Kolbjorn Barrow)
No info yet!
1. Powerattacks cost no Stamina for 30 sec
2. Spells cost no Magicka for 30 sec
3. Take half damage for 30 sec

The Hidden Twilight (Tel Mithryn – Given by Neloth)
No info yet!
1. Summon a field of withering tentacles to harm your foes
2. Freezes target between oblivion and Tamriel for 30 sec, making them immune to all damage
3. Fully restore M/H/S

The Sallow Regent (White Ridge Barrow)
No info yet!
- See above -

"WAKING DREAMS" (After last boss)
perk respec described below, 1 dragon soul to reset a perk tree. Doesnt affect skill level.

There are actually 18 in 6 different books as shown.

I have seven black books. I wonder if there are any more to be found. I love finding them and discovering what really cool powers I can get from them.

Everything suggests that 7 is actually simply how many there is to find. Nobody reported having found more than that.

In fact, I believe I can now say that I'm fairly convinced that the info I posted in the OP is pretty much complete. :)

Miirak's temple has one but I've only found a shout wall in it (dragon aspect I think). Not sure it has a perk group. Was late and I was too tired to keep looking. Hadn't found a portal out though.

I'm assuming these are mostly once-per-day powers, too? Such as the no magicka cost for 30 seconds?

Nope. Most of them will show up under Active Effects and are constant.

But for example the no casting cost one or the heal all S/H/M one?
