Info on the 15 black book powers?

But for example the no casting cost one or the heal all S/H/M one?

Some are temp, some are once a day, and the rest are constant

Quest-gained passive/constant abilities are something I felt Skyrim was still lacking in. I liked that each New Vegas addon added several more every time... lets hope Skyrim picks up this new trend :)

Also, this is probably not black book related but wikis are listing the following 'Blessings'. Temporary or full time passive?
Blessing of Azura — Resist 10% of magic.
Blessing of Boethiah — One-handed weapons do 10% more damage.
Blessing of Mephala — Prices are 10% better.

Regarding these blessings, I believe they are temporary blessings. You can access all three in the anscestrial temple in Raven Rock at the respective shrines for Mephala, Azura and Boethiah. They are similar to the temporary blessings you receive when visiting the various shrines to the divines in Skyrim (Mara, Arkay, etc.)

Regarding the black books: I have yet to really explore Apocrypha. I know that reading the various books leads you to different parts of the realm, and reading them again will send you back to Solstheim, but how do you attain the various powers? Is it just a matter of exploring the various regions of the realm that each book grants access too? And at the end you come upon the knowledge in book form?

I assume they at least stack with the Blessings of the Nine though, otherwise Mephala is redundant with Zenithar I believe.

Just read the book to go back in, and read the other to go back out.

Hey guys,

Has anyone else had problems getting the skill from 'Epistolary Acumen' ?

I have progressed the MQ to the point of acquiring the third word and the book is now in my possession after thr Skaal shaman held up his end of the bargain....however reading the black book agai takes me to the end, and where I would expect to be able to select from one of three orbs, I can't - is this a bug or do I need to clear the dungeon again (bearing in mind I cleared it once already for the main quest)?

From what I have tested, this is a power that you can use as many times as you want. You call him, he appears with all your stuff, you take or give what you want and then once you exit out of the dialogue box, he disappears.
So he is a pack mule, but an on-demand pack mule.
Pretty cool from what I have tested (very limited up to this point) and he hasn't lost any loot I have given him yet.

I didn't have a chance to test that out last night, but will do tonight once I get home from work.

Exactly! Like a pack mule that doesn't mess up your stealthy ways (if you are stealthy).

For those of you that were wondering how much the Dremora Butler can carry....he maxes out at 148.
Not a lot, but helpful...and since there are so many merchants in the game, and that magic drum to fortify stamina doesn't pique my interest, I think it is the best option for that black book.

I am thinking I might go with the merchant. If I am over encumbered I can just sell stuff off. I wonder if the merchant can appear more than once per day with fresh money to buy stuff or if he is like other merchants and only gets new money every 48 hours.

I pretty much have $150K in gold (I have bought every house and forge my own weapons, no way I am going to be able to spend all that cash), the only things I take are things that I want to keep....I don't know how much cash the merchant has, but folks have said that it isn't so much, around $2K? So the butler is a better choice for me.

Yeah, I haven't gotten to that point yet. I am still using money to buy alot of grand soul gems and the more expensive expert and master spells
