Thanks to everyone who helped. Got all the data I wanted onto an external HDD and I reinstalled Windows.

So, if you decide to start doing backups now, I highly recommend Macrium Reflect for Windows. The Professional Edition (not free) will even prep your image for a restore to different hardware (clears out the driver registry), which would have been really handy in your case.
