Instead Obsidian decided that the Courier would take missions to simply wipe out factions with no help from the NCR, Given by a Colonel who seemed to think that sending you to destroy a Bunker filled with Power Armour wearing Xenophobes for no reward was a reasonable assignment.

Two things,
1. If you're high enough reputation with the NCR they will give you a radio where you can call for support, its only one guy but its still not so bad.
2. It makes sense that they would want the BOS guys dead since they have been at war with the NCR for a while. Its total crap that there's no reward but the fact that you've just raided a place full of guys in power armor that are wielding some of the most expensive/hardest to find weapons in the game makes me think that the reward for this is the ability to loot all the Brotherhood's stuff.
