Jordis or Mjoll? Who should I marry?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 7:02 am

K i wanna choose between mjoll and jordis, only those two are an option for me but i wanna know from u guys perspective who is the best follower between those two? i wanna marry the best one out of those two.
I noticed on the wiki that jordis has alot more health and in overall her stats are pretty high up whereas mjoll kinda stops at one point..im not sure if this is true or not but if u tried both as ur followers please let me know which is better.
also i will not reply to messages saying "choose aela or lydia" bcuz i dont want anyone else besides mjoll or jordis. i play on the xbox360 on the version where u cant yet marry lydia and i dont know about aela, she's a werewolf so i cant benefit from lover's comfort which kinda svcks and i dont think burning the witches heads will heal her from her beast mode.
so only jordis or mjoll guys, both have similarities but i pinpointed some bad things for each
Mjoll: Never wears the ring i gave her and uses a stupid hunting bow instead of the daedric one i made for her, besides she never shuts up about her past.
Jordis: she also never uses the awesome bow i made for her
so who is better guys? i heard alot of people saying mjoll cant die is that true or not? and is the wiki correct? is jordis indeed better in overall combat in comparision with mjoll? please let me know.

And if they have not fixed her yet, Mjoll cannot die at all, even by you're own hands

They both cap at 50, so stats aren't an issue. Mjoll is better with 2h and Jordis with 1h.
Now, from a practical standpoint, Mjoll is probably the best place to go there, because NPCs do not swing as fast as they can -they swing, pause, and swing again- and a faster swing rate is the main advantage of a one handed weapon.
Also, as personal preferance, I prefer Mjoll. She is a better character than that copy/paste housecarl.

Why does it matter?

Followers are only useful in their capacity as mules, to haul around loot. If you need to bring along a follower, just make them wait far back from the action, then go and retrieve them, dump your goodies on them, and move on.

Also, you don't need to marry your follower.

I know its not nessecary but i want to lol besides if i marry one of them i can benefit from lovers comfort and also do some profitable business because everyone that u marry with sets up a shop which gives u a bit of a revenue. not too bad.

does the exact amount of damage that the weapons i make for 2h or 1h make any sort of difference for my follower? i have invested alot in 1h but not 2h so will my followers swing my 1h weapons with the same amount of damage that they have for me to use them?

Jordis,

I like her voice and she doesn't have her own follower...

that's also a plus for jordis her voice actor is wonderfull..besides when she says ( im sworn to carry ur burdens) idk when she says that it seems like she says it waaay too fast in a awkward way..
well its always better than the sarcastic way lydia does it..
when i hear mjoll i think of dead kittens :\
besides mjoll never shuts up so that makes it even worse.

I've married both with different characters, and they both have the pros and cons. Mjoll has a lot more "character," by actually having a backstory, but having that Aerin guy follow her around like a poor, lost, friend-zoned puppy is damn irritating. And YES, he will follow Mjoll into your house and never leave. If you have no compunctions about murdering NPC's, then Mjoll is the way to go.

Jordis has a more traditional look, much more feminine. But there's nothing to her at all; no backstory, nothing. Perfect if you're playing the kind of character who likes having a trophy spouse, but if you're playing the type that wants a battle-hardened warrior mate, Jordis is just kind of boring.

I prefer Lydia over either of those. Except for when I ask her to carry something...

this is the kind of reply i was looking for xD someone who tested out both
thanks well i know how to kill aerin and so far from what i heard of u guys jordis is boring but her stats equal of mjoll
but mjoll is more annoying to listen to has a backstory and never dies because she's glitched on that part
hmm still a tough choice for me..since i already married mjoll in a part character i made
im thinking of going to jordis
yes she doesnt wear the bow i give her but at least she wears the ring and she has a sixier voice..AND if she dies big whoop i can load the last save..:\
in master difficulty both seem like tanks with the jacked up legendary status ancient nord armor i gave them all double enchanted..so maybe they will do both a equal job so by exclusion of bad things between both..jordis seems to be the better choice..

I do normally advise people to marry a follower, especially if your roleplaying. Mainly because you can buy their armour off them and make them wear anything e.g. tavern clothes, chef outfit, nobles clothes etc. So you and your spouse could dress up in normal clothes and walk around or travel to other cities looking like a normal couple and not warriors if you want.

On Jordis vs Mjoll. For a trophy wife Jordis, for a backstory Mjoll.

trophy wife ftw xD anyways u got a point i am giving her ancient nord armor but for walking around town with me she will have the tavern clothes, i just need to buy off her the default steel armor set she has in order for her to put on any type of clothing, i saw a way to do it on youtube and hopefully this will work wonders for me.

Wait, is that only op PC? I've got a lvl 50 something character, and I don't ever recall an option like that for any of my wives.

The problem with Mjoll, is that she's Essential. Her stats lock to when you first enter Riften, and since she's Essential, you can't use the Wabbajack on her to fix her stats. So Jordis would actually probably be better in combat, since you can Wabbajack her to fix her stats.

true thanks that also made me realize just how important it is the fact that some followers level up with u and others dont.
more points for jordis.

No, its noy just for PC, Xbox and PS3 can do it too. All you have to do is marry a spouse who is also a follower, i.e. mjoll, aela etc. Then give them different armour so that they change out of their defaults. Now, since spouses are also shops, their default armour will appear in the shop, which lets you buy it off them.

Then, place the clothes you want to wear in their inventory, tavern clothes or whatever, and then take away the previous armour you gave them. This should make then equip the clothes. It may take a few tries to get this right, but i'm on Xbox and it works.

I didn't know you could do that. I did notice she was selling her wedding ring... eh? And that when I stole her clothes off her and sold them to her she equipted them again haha...

will experiment later

Doesn't all her stuff just instantly respawn though after you remove it?

Yeah, only if shes not following you and you leave her at home. So you would have to use the method again. If she's following you though, her armour will never respawn, even when you change cells.
