Same here. Found Gene near Red Rocket. But i couldn't interact with him, because he was busy chasing a radstag. Never saw him again in more than 300 hours of playtime.

Gene seems to be a completely random encounter. Thinking back, I believe he walks the main roads that run everywhere, but i've met him all over the map- once in a firefight in downtown Boston- supermutants are bangin' away in the street, I click on VATS and something down the street shows up green and friendly.... yep, it's Gene just walkin' a dog in the middle of a war zone. I'm up to seven dogs now, plus dogmeat, all in one dogpack. Watching the pack run outside the walls at a settlement and take down a raider attack was awesome.

Kelly, the girl that sells the cattle is in between Abernathy Farms and the south end of Concord- seems to be in the same place for me all the time. Go south of the last houses in Concord, pretty much to the lot with the cookfire where bad guys and friendly NPC's always spawn, and go west towards Abernathy- she's about halfway between the two, kind of just past the southwest corner of Concord. Click VATS a few times and it should pick her up.

Only seen Gene once and he turned up at my settlement at Somerville Place and I purchased a dog! Never seen him since!!

I've run in to him twice, once at Outpost Zimonja and once at County Crossing. I only noticed him the first time because I thought he was a settler and I couldn't get him to take orders.

If you put one of the Junkyard dogs in the same town as Dogmeat and only have one doghouse, the junkyard will take it over and Dogmeat will just sit next to it and whine. If you put another one next to it then they share.

I have 5 of them as well. They're currently all at Sanctuary. They add 5 points of defense to your settlement too, so it's a worthwhile purchase. They're actually effective during attacks too, rather than just adding to the points.

Agree! I now have 9 of them (up from 5 over the weekend). Keep running in to Gene (I think he's stalking my Melinda. Honestly! I do! Every time I go anywhere, there he is! For some reason he was between Saugus and Med-Tech last night and just walked past Mac & I as we fought a Legendary Albino Radscorpion (I got something called the Junkie Gauss Rifle (pretty cool, but I'm not a recovering addict - maybe Cait can use it!) - needless to say, he ignored us. That was last night, not an hour after I encountered him over by the Mass Fusion building for the 3rd time. Sheesh.

YAY! I'm so glad it worked and you found your puppy. Awww and I'll bet he missed you a lot and was happy to see you too.

Not sure if it was just by chance or what but I put a doghouse up at Abernathy farm even though I didn't have a dog and shortly after Gene came wondering through. I tried it again at another settlement to see and nothing happen so idk...

I FINALLY GET IT!!!


I was going to ArcJet Systems to pick a Tesla magazine, accordingly to a video on You Tube, and used V.A.T.S. to check if there was any nearby enemy... and the Pip Boy got a possible target: Gene!

He was just standing by at that little helipad that is near ArcJet Systems. Got a new dog!!

Now I hope that I found him again soon, and do not take 14 days of playtime...

Sorry for the "revival post", but I had to tell you guys. I'm very happy.

I understand. I've got over 200 hours of playtime in myself and he just showed up for me the first time today. I was standing in Sanctuary talking to Carla when all of a sudden a strange dog ran by. My first thought was that one of those savage mongrels had come in to town so I was hurriedly backing out of the conversation dialog so I could shoot it. Then it occurred to me that it wasn't attacking so I walked up to it and it just looked at me. About then I looked around and there was Gene. I was more than happy to buy the dog.

Matter of fact, I wish I could just put in a standing order that I will buy every dog he finds in the wasteland. I've got something like 50,000 caps and I'd be willing to buy a canine army! I wish you could trade with them like you can with Dogmeat. It would be fun to see 30 dogs all playing with teddy bears at the same time.

I found him once walking around the drive-in. I never saw the Brahmin seller yet after hundreds of hours, though I fast travel a lot. I may try a no fast travel play through this time.

Now that I've made everything in the game, after 15 days of playtime, I've stopped to use Fast Travel. Found Gene again... and bought another dog! I think that the secret is: stop to use Fast Travel and you will find lots of stuff.

Also found Preston Garvey's Impersonator. Killed the SoB.

I tried to buy one yesterday and that dbag said naw I changed my mind and wouldn't sell to me I was pissed.

Fast travel kills this.
