Just got Dragon age 2 from my brother

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 8:48 am

Hm, so, been waiting a loooong time for Skyrim (since announcement) and now apparently, while lurking in my emo room my brothers comes around, says I can borrow his Dragon age 2 copy on PC. I had completely forgot about that game but now I'm super-excited to play it. But if I start playing it I will just disappear in that world and just one day before Skyrim :sadvaultboy:

Is it worth playing? Skyrim can always wait ofc... :disguise:

Sure, you should be able to beat that game by the time SKyrim comes out.

If you haven't played Dragon Age: Origins, then you might enjoy it.

If you HAVE played DAO, (like me) then you will probably think it's an embarrassment to the series and should be burned and spat on.

One of the worst games I've ever played. Wait till Skyrim, or storm through the MW3 campaign in time for it.

Do not play that game, I assure you it is bad.

Blasphemy! Skyrim will actually be fun, rather than a chore. Plus, first person always trumps 3rd person.

ya I just know somebody is going to come on this form and say "Not related to Skyrim but..." but really im sure you can just wait the day and plus dragon age origins is a much better game so play that instead if you can.

Honestly, I enjoyed DA2. The combat was kind of hack 'n' slash, but it was good on the XBOX, not sure about PC. I thought the story was good, as most Bioware titles are.

As a successor to DA:O, it was an above average game. As it's own game, it was good. The writing and dialogue were great, and playing a sarcastic/jack-ass Hawke produced funny scenes.

It's all a matter of opinion, it seems.

It takes about 30-35 hours to complete all the side quests and MQ so to finish it before Skyrim comes out, possibly not unless you plan on playing all day tomorrow.

I have played it and I can say DO NOT prioritise DA 2 above Skyrim there is no comparison

I'd just wait for Skyrim

Dragon age 2 isn't even worth finishing.

It's not that the...
If you just...
I would...
You might...

Sorry, I was trying to come up with a way to trick someone into taking the game off your hands. I am at a loss.

What the hell, go ahead and start it. Chances are you will return it before the release of Skyrim anyway.

DA2 was okay, but it's still the worst BioWare game to date (no, I don't count Shattered Steel or MDK2 since they're not RPGs, and I don't count Sonic RPG since it's a frickin' Nintendo DS game).
If the OP hasn't played the Baldur's Gate games (that is, the real BG games, not Dark Alliance), I'd recommend him to ignore DA 2 and play those instead. They're a bit old, but they're still the best games ever made IMO.

It took me around 20 hours to beat DA2, doing all the marked side quests, talking with all the companions, and all that, on Casual. Shouldn't take you much longer, and you can play it later.
