Just had an amazing idea for a future DLC.

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:17 pm

Remember when you killed grolag the kind for aventus at honorhall orphonage? Well as part of a dlc, kinda like the whole face sculpting thing, someone new takes over the orphonage. A letter is sent to you that orphons are up for adoption. You get to meet the new owner and a random or pre set amount of kids and for 10,000 septims he will allow you to adopt a child. Requirements are that you must already own a home or you will be deemed unfit to raise a child. You must also have a spouse. The child is merely for decoration and giving you an in depth feel for the game. Also when you buy the child, some how his birth certificate has been lost so you must name the child. You may have up to two children

Adopting children was shown in the Gamejam video, so maybe they will be in a future DLC or patch update?

That seems like it would work really well. But what of you don't kill Grelod? It should be an option to adopt without killing her. And 10,000 septims? C'mon... that's too much for a kid I'll be giving an allowance. Other than that, the idea is flawless.

She'd probably be happy to be rid of them...

Well, lets say you havent killed her. Since She doesnt allow adoptions, the dlc would promote the joining of the dark brotherhood in some way. Either that or if you have a high enough speech you can grudginly convince her to allow you to adopt, though with the same requirements as above. Also, again if youre speach is high enough, you can threaten to turn her into the guard for her treatment of the children, resulting in her hasty decision to let you adopt at fear of imprisonment, though with the same requirements above

Yeah but it's just a kid. If all they do is decorate and take your money, what's the point? I would only pay up to 5000. If anything, give me a Kha'jiit kid lol.

And still, making it a requirement to kill Grelod (since the only way not to is to persuade her) would still be a bad idea. And also promoting the dark brotherhood. Hearing about it at the orphanage is one thing, but trying to push a player towards it isn't cool. Not all players are evil characters, and not all characters use speech. So you would essentially lock some people out of being able to use adoption.

Honestly - I fail to see how this is a great idea.

OK: you get to adopt an orphan. That's nice. But it's not the most awesomest DLC idea of all time!

I thought you were going to come up with something truly shattering, like a war between the Daedra in which you participate, or something like that.

I feel...........cheated.

That would be an awesome DLC, an all out war between the Daedric Princes, well maybe just some of them.

That sounds like it could potentially be even more riveting and amazing than Skyrim's detailed, ground-breaking, award-winning marriage system.

Not really. I'm a "good" character. The children are miserable with her and she's mean to them. She's "evil-ish" to me. You can actually do that "Lost Innocence" quest and kill her, without "promoting the Dark Brotherhood". I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but you can actually kill off the Dark Brotherhood, by doing that quest and when Astrid makes you choose who to kill, kill Astrid. You'll get a quest called "Destroy The Dark Brotherhood!". So it's not totally evil and that old **** deserves it anyway.

I like the idea of adopting a child, but not as a stand alone DLC, it would have to be packed into something substantial.

This. I like the idea, but as a part of a DLC or major patch. As a standalone DLC the idea falls a little flat.

Despite the fact that she is a horrible person, she has done nothing to deserve death. It is incredibly hypocritical to require the PC to MURDER a defenseless old woman in COLD BLOOD before you can destroy the Dark Brotherhood.

10,000 septims!?

That's not adoption, that's trafficking.

You're buying kids from an orphanage lmao... nothing dodgy about that. >.> <.<

A defenseless old woman that is physically, mentally, and emotionally abusing every child left in her care.

Then take into consideration that all of this was apparently so horrible that it made a 10 year old boy brave the trip through the wilderness from Riften to Windhelm (unequipped and by himself mind you) rather than stay another day in that orphanage.

And again, if you go back to the orphanage and talk to the kids who're still there, they're all praising the Dark Brotherhood for saving their lives, ending their torture, etc. One can only imagine the level of depravity she went to when abusing those kids.

Naw, she didn't deserve to die at all... /sarcasm

I kill Grelod with a smile in every single game I start up. After becoming a Vampire, it's the first quest I undertake.

I think I require a bit more meat for a DLC. Bethesda has already gone on record stating they'd rather to larger packs like Dawnguard than just your run of the mill nonsense, so that's the grade I judge these ideas on.

They can integrate just the same as they have integrated the cosmetic surgeon.

I'm not sure how the Dragonborn can have time for raising a child. Dragonborn has too much vital tasks that he must fulfill in this world.

You get a kid, they move in with your spouse....... what else their has to be more than just that such as interactions with the child. Can they go on quests with you? Also why not have your own kids?
