It would almost be like having a pet cat!

That's terrible. I apologize my Khajiit brethren. :(
They should allow us to adopt the Alfiq Khajiit sub-race that is pretty much the same as a housecat

Well has anyone else noted that all the children in Skyrim look like they had the same father? I suspect it was the Milkman. Which would explain why there are so many jokes now about Milk drinkers among the Nords.

Anyway Bethesda obviously didn't put a lot of work into designing the kids. Heck I didn't even realize that Braith was a Redguard until I found her in her house with her mother one time ... when I was just stopping by to borrow a book. I do hope they put some effort into the new kids, but those I seen in the vid really look like all the rest.

Its not that they dont care about the races its just the fact that they are too lazy to do it.

I think people need to just think a moment about how difficult it would be to create children for non-human races.

Lets start with looks
  • Are they following the idea that they will be smaller versions of the advlts or are there different stages of growth, i.e do children khajit and argonians look humanoid or more beast like? Argonian children could be like tadpoles for all we know
  • Assuming they are humanoid shaped how will they make them look younger? For most of them it's easy : bigger eyes, rounder faces etc. but what about for argonians and khajit?
Now voices
  • Argonians and Khajit have very unique and distinct accents, they would therefore need to find child voice actors who have, or at least can convincingly pull off those accents. Not very easy.
  • What about speech quirks? Will the children refer to themselve's in third person
  • Also culture wise what will the argonian and khajit children call their parents? They have such different names for other roles and ranks I am sure they would have different ways to address parents.
Finally Implementation
  • Bethesda said early on that they did not want their addons to simply "appear" in the game but rather be seemlessly integrated.
  • How do you think they will pop in dozens of new characters?
  • For the Khajit especially this poses a problem as they are currently mainly travellers that are not allowed into cities. Will they have to travel around with the caravans? If so what will happen to them when the caravans are attacked by dragons etc?
I know that bethesda can probably work all of this out and with enough time and effort it is very possible, but it is a lot to ask for a $5 add on. Who knows maybe I'm wrong, maybe it will be in hearthfire, maybe they will add this with another dlc but just remember that if it was not added it wouldn't be because they didn't feel like it but rather because the effort was better placed elsewhere

I'm curious about the Argonian camp... after all Argonians are hatched... should be fun to implement, having an Egg in your home all of a sudden...

Another thing that's never mentioned is inter-species relations, what would happen if a Nord got a child with a Khajiit? Would it be Half-Nord-Half-Khajiit? Or are they not even sixually compatible? I know it's weird to ask this question, but I'm interested in this Lore Wise... how about Half-Orc-Half-Altmer? The ultimate battle mage?

Isn't that so with the Asari in Mass Effect? Plus the Bretons are Half-Men/Half-Mer. So it would be seem Men and Mer are atleast sixually compatabile...

I tried looking around some more, but there really isn't any lore on this subject, (with the exception of Bretons) I'm guessing Bethesda is too prudish for that subject

I remember reading it on one of the wikis. And with the bretons it was altmer and nedes involved, maybe nedes are different or the altmer used some magic to make it possible

If i remember correctly from one book in Morrowind it goes like this
Nord malee+ dunmer female= Dunmer that has slightly stronger musculature , and the same goes for every other race exept Argonians and Khajit who can mate only with themselvs

Anyway sadly I doubt there be any other race than thouse that already in game. I hope hover for more stuarts then the two they shown so far i want my Dunmer fammily to have Khajiit slav... I mean servant ;)

Well, from the lore in TES, slavery has now been abolished in all of Tamriel, with the exception of Morrowind where slavery is protected by law. Ofcourse I don't know how it is now, in the fourth era... and Morrowind being the victim of the outburst of the Red Mountain, but I assume that law has not changed.

I'd like to be able to adopt a Khajiit child. And marry a Khajiit wife. Please.

I really don't see why Khajiit cant marry their own kind. It would be nice if they explained why.

Don't get your hopes up, Khajiit don't get glowing vampire eyes, anyone to marry, any female followers and odds are there are no Khajiit kids to adopt. I'll bet you can't even make one your steward in your house.

Beast races don't get squat, hell my neck fur clips through half of my outfits too.

Don't forget us poor Bosmer. :( What I wouldn't give for a little elf child and a rugged Bosmeri husband.

Note that most of in-game books are written from in-game perspective, so the scholar might be wrong (and he is. He doesn't know about the relation between Argonians and the Hist). The book was present in Morrowind (3E 427), so it's quite old. What it does say about beast races and Orcs is basically: we don't know. Since Orcs are in fact elves and Khajiit have common ancestry with mer, I'd say there's no reason not to include their offspring in the game.

You'll probably just talk to your steward and a fresh batch of children shows up at your door.

Well, Constance says the same. But a few added lines of dialogue should fix that either way.

GRELOD ALIVE:
DRAGONBORN: "I would like to adopt one of the children."
GRELOD: "And why should I let you adopt one of these useless little pig droppings?"
DRAGONBORN:
Persuade: "You obviously can't stand them. Why don't you let me take one off your hands?"
Bribe: "How about an 'adoption fee' of 100 septims?"
Intimidate: "I'll bet Constance would allow it... once you're out of the way."
Status: "Why don't I talk to the jarl? I'm Thane of the Rift, so I think she'd listen to me."
GRELOD: "Fine, whatever. I don't care. Talk to Constance."

GRELOD DEAD
DRAGONBORN: "I'd like to adopt one of the children."
CONSTANCE: "I see... and after what you did to Grelod, why should I trust you with one of my children?"
DRAGONBORN:
Persuade: "Grelod was an evil hag who abused the children. She had to be dealt with."
Status: "Since I'm Thane of the Rift, I'm certain that the jarl will vouch for me."

Either way, you would simply arrange the adoption with Constance. Then, go to the child you've chosen and offer to adopt him/her. Easy as pie.

I want an Khajiit kitten with chase his own tail as one of the idle animations.

Worse it's Argonian kids on nexus but no Khajiit kittens :)

Afraid we are all stuck with Nord kids. There is just no way in hell my Altmer who is married to Taarie for the sole reason of being the same race will adopt little frost monkeys. They will just stink up the place.

My Dunmer vamp would probably not mind his fast food being Nord...errr I mean lovely children that are given a wonderful future.

There sure as hell should be Dunmer kids to adopt in Windhelm, at least. Think of it like this: the Dunmer are very poor and large in number. It wouldn't be a surprise if one of them gave their kids up to save on some money. As for Khajiit kids, PLEASE HAVE THEM, and a Khajiit wife for me to marry. Thank you.

Objectively speaking, it's at least feasible that there are no Khajiit cubs (I KNOW, I want them too). Ditto with some other races. But I have to say that it seems unrealistic that there aren't any Dunmer kids in the Gray Quarter or Riften, or Argonians in the same places. Both cities have large populations of both races, who live there (instead of travelling, like Khajiit do), so it seems natural that they would have kids.
