At least maintain the Art Style!

Is it possible that the art team is limited by the engines ability to create amazing enviroments without killing servers or clients?

Absolutely not. They just don't know what they're doing / have been told to aim for generic high fantasy, et all.

You've seen one screenshot (which you should take down, by the way) and that's your conclusion? Well, let me tell you; I've seen them all, and in one in particular, there's a set of armor that is very CLEARLY the orcish armor. The helmet looks near identical to the one from Skyrim, and the chest plate is stupid easy to identify as belonging to the Orcish set. Just because two sets of armor don't look like something you've seen before in TES, doesn't mean all the armor is going to be like that.

Yeah all of them right here http://www.computerandvideogames.com/viewer.php?mode=article&id=282253#top_banner

Which one is the orcish armor?

Yeah all of them right here

Which one is the orcish armor?

Red Guard pointing, Orc in background, Female Breton crouching.

Then, side view of helmet from same Female, fighting weird looking chicken thing.

Just realized there's page numbers. :faceplam:

Number 10, and 6

Yeah "Stupid easy to identify" doesn't really match up here from my perspective

Irrelevant. We're not arguing about my choice of words, or how quick I noticed it, are we? No.

I didn't quite catch that, I was busy ogling the cleavage on the warrior with the chest window.

I'm pretty sure that was your entire point in this post, unless somehow the term "I've" means something else entirely...

What's your point? It's [censored], yeah, but if that little bit of cleavage really bothers you...

You want to complain about models that make no sense, and are IMHO, disgusting? Look at Tera. At least TES:O has the females be more than half naked all the time.

Yeah, you're not that smart, are you? Nice straw man argument you've set up there.

I'm done, I learned a long time ago that arguing with morons gets you nowhere. Feel free to continue making a fool of yourself.

Tera is not the problem here, The Elder Scrolls is. Just because another game is worse, does not make this right.

I would complain about Tera, but I normally don't complain about stuff I don't care about.
Faces look bland too, as in nearly every MMORPG but still.

Where did I say it made it right? I was just remarking on how terrible Tera is, as I do every chance I get. I can't stand when female characters get so blatantly "done up" to get 13 year old boys into the game. Sure, maybe the "chest window" serves the same purpose, I can't say.

Not too appalled by the art, however one must wonder why the women seem to be spilling out of their armor . . .

You did not say it was right, what you did do was use Tera as a justification for Scribonate not to complain or to direct his complaint to that game instead. I was pointing out Tera is not the problem, its shortcoming do not apply here as The Elder Scrolls problems are self created by the chosen art style.

I remember Diablo III and the uproar over it's art direction, The Elder Scrolls seems to suffer the same ridicule, perhaps opinions will change when everyone grows used to the look. For now, it feels and looks wrong.

I agree OP. The art style does not look like TES at all, it looks like generic fantasy stuff. Women running around in metal bikinis, dudes with giant glowing swords etc.

You seem surprised that a different art team, has a different vision of the same thing. Imagine that.

MMOs are meant to last for a long time and the realist looking games often look bad after a couple of years.

That's why games are taking on this 'cartoonist' look.

I think that's a Kagouti.

The art style is one of the two things I don't really like, though. I think they should go for grittier, darker, high res textures. My armor in Star Trek Online looks way better than that ...

The art style does look like TES. It just looks a little cartoonified. The Orcish armor looks like Orcish armor. The Ordinator armor looks like a precursor to the same armor in Morrowind. As for big fantasy swords? Have you seen the clay ores in Skyrim? They are typical fantasy sword huge. There is nothing inherently un-TES about the Art style. Would you say the Elder Scrolls mobile games and the older TES games like Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire and Redguard were not TES games or TES artstyle?

None of you, or me, honestly can say what the TES artstyle is. That is ultimately up too the developers. Is Windwaker not a Zelda Artstyle because it was cartoony and the other games before it were not? No. Jesus, there are better complaints than those about the art direction. Personally I think it looks perfectly bearable. Looks pretty much exaclty like Oblivion's generic looking Artstyle, which I also liked.

Just because YOU do not like the Artstyle does not mean its not TES.

I honestly would like to see TES art-style. Hell, any off-the-shelves computer can run Skyrim at medium-low settings nowadays. I don't think it'd be hard to maintain that style, because honestly the screenshots don't look like TES. They don't look like WoW, necessarily, but some devilish love-child of the two.
