Lets face it.....the game is a disgrace.

Post » Wed Jan 19, 2011 11:54 pm

Well after 50 hours of play, mainly rounding up all skill books and completing side quests etc, I have a corrupt save file and therefore cannot contine with the game.Thanks.
The last actions I took was clearing out vault 3 and then fast travelling to log off in the legion safehouse like I always do.Looks like I'll be staying a while.
Digging around on here it seems that its quite a common bug, well actually it seems that theres a list of bugs longer than the strip.Again, thanks.

I'll look forward to the inevitable roll out of paid for DLC, watching on while me and thousands of others cannot play savegames from the original release.

Wait, there STILL exists a save corruption bug in this game? Are you sure it wasn't something else causing the corruption?

Heh. Clearly I need to practise my reading skills.

And, David, yes there are save corruption bugs. In particular completing the Come Fly With Me quest and entering vault 3 can corrupt several of your save games. There's plenty of info on this in this forum.

The problem is you have to read the forum and quite possibly you don't know what to actually look for. The only people helping those of us with game problems are one another as BETHESDA REFUSES TO TELL US WHAT IS GOING ON.

Yes, I absolutely agree. The lack of feedback from the devs is terrible. Personally, I'm shelving the game until a decent patch is released. It's just no fun to be constantly afraid of encountering a game-breaking bug. The save corruption issue in particular is totally unacceptable. The game should never have been released in this state.

^ Shelving the game huh, I've been doing that since day one. I know the problem lies with F:NV (duh) not my computer. if it were any other game I'd have returned it in a heartbeat and demanded my hard-earned money back. But for Fallout, and knowing the developer's crappy history when it comes to patching games, I'm willing to wait.

50 hours......and you have 1 save? Well there is your problem. :P (Aside from the corrupting of saves to begin with.)

When playing games on the Gamebryo engine, save often, and keep many many saves, always! (This goes back to at least Morrowind days.) I have many many saves to fall back to, and I am glad I do, seeing it got me around a corruption issue and a scripting issue. (About 2-3 hours lost.)

I try and save every 10-20 minutes for just these types of issues. I have well over 100 saves. (And that is pretty light for me. Usually 250+ by now.) If you wish to play, I suggest you do the same.

I have 90 something saves for 1 game... I have never had a problem with corruption. Did you by chance crash during an autosave?

Maybe they don't answer your questions, because there are already dozens of threads that already have answered your questions. If you had spend as much time as searching for one of thoose threads, as posting in complaint threads, you could already have returned to play the game again^^

Btw. I'm one of thoose guys that didn't have a serious problem with save states, probably because I used the search function and already found a solution to save game crashes?

Edit: And btw. 2, the topic name is a disgrace^^

The purpose of a beta is to bring all these issues out in the open. I really don't know why all of you freaking whiny hosebags continue to spread your negative waves through these upstanding and righteous Bethesda forums. It's as if someone took your money and gave you a subpar product or experience. Shame on you all.

I had several saves, but backed them all up after vault 3.Apart from crashes in the ultra luxe during beyond the beef, I hadnt experienced that much trouble so I just plodded on, thinking things were fine.It wasnt until I came here that I heard about corrupted saves, you live and learn I guess.
And no crashes during an autosave, everything was fine until I tried to play again.

What you are experiencing is not a bug, it's a "feature." now you get to go back and experience those 52 hours of gameplay again. Your playable hours have now been effectively doubled, thus increasing the value of this wonderful title. Enjoy this honor, savor it even.

Wow you need to work for the PR department for Obsidian. They say any bug we encounter is just due to the VASTNESS of this game, almost as if we should shut up and be thankful for it. Keep in mind on their official site there's no mention of the problems that folks are having and their also working hard to block negative review by basically threatening any one who writes a bad review.

And this has been proven? (Not saying it hasn't, but I have yet to see any proof and would like a link if it exists.)

I've seen accusations, but no proof yet.

lmao.

anyway lets face it.. bethesda makes buggy games but msot of them were bearable. Add a horrible dev team, Obisdian, to the count and well you'll have yourself a [censored]load of buggy crap. I mean look at the difference between biowares kotor 1 and obisdians kotor 2, look at nwn 1 and look at nwn2, look at alpha protocol. Obsidian are srsly, at the moment, the worse devs ever. They and well the ones that made sniper ghost warrior, forgot their names ( city interactive I think ) are truly BAD.

I still havent got the chance to play new vegas..yeah..3 weeks and I'm still looking at my executable, sigh-ing.. morons.

It's called multiple saves. Use them. You should have a backup save file in the save games directory that might not be corrupt. And PS, all publishers push back on negative reviews with some publishers even PAYING money to avoid anything negative (like, ahem, microsoft is doing for kinect). If the review was taken down, there is probably a reason for it aka something wasn't true. For example, the constant blaming Obsidian for the games bugs. Read the credits, most of the programmers were Bethesda folks. Obsidian designed the game much like a director directs a film but isn't the cinematographer.

You sir are a troll, there is something clearly wrong with how Bethesda operates when it comes to support. Remember Oblivion in '06 how about fallout in '08 both games had horrific issues upon launch and nothing was done for months, if it wasn't for the community doubt these games would be in any working orders as they a released essentially in beta form.

NPC pathing
NPC scripting
Broken Quests
Terrible UI
Performance issues galore in PC/360/PS3
Save corruption PC/360/PS3
Low quality textures

They said in this thread even there is a patch incoming. To those that like to say "this is a beta", "I paid $50 to be a beta tester", etc. you should keep in mind that is not how betas work. Obviously people say that to be funny but in all seriousness beta releases are intended for users to provide meaningful feedback about issues, especially ones that can be duplicated. This is not meaningful feedback: "OMG fix this broken thing". This is meaningful feedback: "When I start Quest A after I have already visited Place X I can no longer talk to Character Y making it impossible to finish the quest. I tried this twice to be sure and it happens on both occasions". For example, going to the vault with plants and talking to that doctor guy afterwards and later on making the delivery from that caravan place. You can't talk to him and thus you can't complete the quest. If you want somebody to fix an issue then provide as most details possible about said issue. Don't just complain about it because you will be ignored

We wanted to give you guys a heads-up regarding the latest progress on Fallout: New Vegas updates.

We’ve come up with solutions for the Xbox 360 save issue folks are reporting, along with a number of other issues being reported. We’re currently running final testing and certification on a comprehensive patch for all three platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), so we’ll have something available in the coming weeks. When we have more details, we’ll let you know.

In the meantime, an incremental update for PC should be going up by early next week that will fix the save corruption issues and problems with companions, as well as improve performance for NVIDIA users and resolve some issues reported with Havok.
