Level 26 Still no Ebony

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 3:48 am

Somewhere around 20-25 I found an ebony battleaxe on a draugr deathlord. And I must say, the battleaxe looks AWESOME.

LUCKY !! i just got a pathedic one handed sword ..how much damage does the battle axe do?

Volunruund or whatever its called, there's a Draugr Death Lord inside that uses an Ebony Bow. Good luck.

I had a hell of a time with that fight. He kept one-shotting me. That's at least 190 damage, plus whatever it took to get through my armor rating of 130.

And in the end, the ebony bow is so incredibly UGLY that I didn't want to use it. :(

To me, finding anything which isn't either Dwemer or the reward for a Daedric quest is relatively low on immersion. It's pretty damn unlikely that you'd simply come across some cool armour somewhere and have it not only in working condition, but actually fit first time without altering it.

Because of that, I prefer to buy or make my armour. In terms of immersion it's much more plausible; as your character often has large quantities of money from working and access to training from the best smith in Skyrim in Whiterun.

That's always the worst danger in games, high level equipment being too ugly to use :hehe: Like the Plasma Caster in New Vegas :yucky:

Just be patient! Don't nerf your character by pumping Smithing to 100 and dumping all those perk points. It will come in due time.

You guys never would have made it Jedi status ....too impatient.....

It's my understanding that even dragon armor has a chance to be found, but these higher types of armor will be rare. It's a contrast to Oblivion's tendency to give daedric armor to common bandits as the game progressed.

......or you could just get level 100 smithing, which takes less than 3 hours and less than 5000 coins.

I found Ebony boots in a barrow being at level 25. Other than that, nothing.

I'm level 40 and have yet to come across Ebony Armor. I found some Ebony Gauntlets and Boots but not the chest and pants piece. Doesn't bother me though, since I can make my own.

Are ebony weapons slower than glass? That's a huge damage difference.

I'm level 36 and started finding it just a few levels ago. It's seeming to get more prevalent as I advanced past 35. I also just found my first piece of glass armor. .. unfortunately I found it in a random encounter with "Argonian".
(there are two characters I keep running into, "Argonian" and "Thief". They both seem to always be leveled to around my level and wearing leveled gear. thief demands all my money.. argonian just attacks for no reason. I don't like them at all.. It's like they are oblivion characters that found their way into skyrim world.)

I also find it odd that I found Scaled armor so quickly in the game. I had a full set by level 15 and didn't start finding elven until about level 25. Yet Elven armor is worse than scaled armor... It's like the light armor list/finding level is messed up or something.

I always get attacked by a character named "Orc" it is very strange....

I am level 29 and, to date, have only dound 4 ebony weapons (Warhammer, Greatsword and 2 swords) and an ebony helm. I have yet to find any glass armor, and ended up making my own.

I'm level 42 and i got my first ebony item from a chest at level 37, which was the chestplate. Soon i saw ebony boots and gauntlets in whiterun shop and bought them. After that, i got a quest to kill some guy and he dropped ebony mail which has sneaking bonuses. Helm was painful to get. I got it from some quest tho as a reward today. I bought the shield from a shop and at like level 40 i've started to see a lot of ebony items in chests.

I'm level 15 and killed a Dragur Overlord (the toughest battle I've had all game, had my heart racing!) and picked up an Ebony Sword (which is awesome, NPCs comment on it all the time, calling it a "midnight blade" and what not).

I haven't leveled up in about 20 play hours, so I know for a fact I will be about level 25 when I decide to level up. Hopefully I start seeing more Ebony.

The game guide, does state that those levels are when said items are becoming 'common' as in you find them quite easily f.ex some bandits/random event, prior to the lvl requirement u do find them rarely from bosses ect.

Southeast of Windhelm is Gloodbound Mine, TONS of ebony veins in there. I got nearly 50 ore in 1 visit. Also it's safe inside, just some orcs who tell you to leave but never do anything about it.

Edit: Didn't read your post clearly enough, this tip only helps if you plan on smithing your own Ebony gear. I'm not sure what level you actually start to find the armor.

Good to see you don't have to wait for level 30 :D
