Level 26 Still no Ebony

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 12:06 am

So im lvl 26 now and i still havent come across a single ebony item, i was under the impression that around level 20 some items or building materials appear.
Now im not going to do what 90% of people are going to say to do, which is stand there and make 1000 iron daggers and get to lvl 100 smithing and make my gear, to me that breaks the whole element of finding new gear and exploration for new items.
Is there any sure locations i can visit to start getting some ebony gear?

Thanks

Southeast of Windhelm is Gloodbound Mine, TONS of ebony veins in there. I got nearly 50 ore in 1 visit. Also it's safe inside, just some orcs who tell you to leave but never do anything about it.

Edit: Didn't read your post clearly enough, this tip only helps if you plan on smithing your own Ebony gear. I'm not sure what level you actually start to find the armor.

I think you need to be a bit higher than 26, 35+ should be okay.

Better just to use smithing though tbh.

I think you have to craft it. I only find ebony weapons in the game and never armor. Same as daedra.

I found a ebony breatplate and a shield at level 25 in some old fort full of forsworn and a the shield in some ruins, the ebony gear is out there its just rare which in my opinion is a

good thing, it feels awesome when you find one piece instead of just making it with the ebony ingots you can mine.

I use the smithing to improve my gear rather than make it. oh that briastplate I found had +40 hp enchant on it, even better find haha too bad I was mage class... my Lydia loved

it though.

SPOILER ALERT*******************

Go to the lighthouse on the northern shore (between Dawnstar and Winterhold). After clearing the basemant and connected ice cave I found a set of Ebony armor in the last chest. I assume it will be there an not just a random spawn.

I found a nice Ebony bow on a boss in a barrow (not sure which one). In fact I enchanted it with shock and improved it at a grindstone and am still using it. That's the only ebony thing I've found in loot so far and I'm level 30.

Eventually you even find dragon armor. I found a chest piece, a helmet, and a shield at 3 different dragon word walls in a chest. Just depends on your level.

Ebony doesn't start showing up in real numbers at that level. It starts getting sprinkled but until you're 30+. I think too many people are thinking about this game in terms of oblivion. This game is designed to level up much higher.

I'm level 36 and started finding it just a few levels ago. It's seeming to get more prevalent as I advanced past 35. I also just found my first piece of glass armor. .. unfortunately I found it in a random encounter with "Argonian".
(there are two characters I keep running into, "Argonian" and "Thief". They both seem to always be leveled to around my level and wearing leveled gear. thief demands all my money.. argonian just attacks for no reason. I don't like them at all.. It's like they are oblivion characters that found their way into skyrim world.)

I also find it odd that I found Scaled armor so quickly in the game. I had a full set by level 15 and didn't start finding elven until about level 25. Yet Elven armor is worse than scaled armor... It's like the light armor list/finding level is messed up or something.

I'm lv 18 i found an ebony sword took it from the undead over lord dude he was fin hard at the second dash(hyper speed shout)
Then you fight a wizard just outside he hard too and got a pretty kool mask...
I never crafted anything really but i was a W.wolf i think it has over powered me a bit ..
can kill most things in one hit or two...
so far this game is pretty easy vampires fall like snow and anything else in my way my two handed axe does 60 plus damage put a crappy enchantment on it...
most of my gear is steal plate with stamina enchantments on it

I'm level 22 and I've found 3/5ths of Ebony Armour(Body, Gauntlets, Shield) and an Ebony War Axe in random loot. I'm playing a mage, so Lydia is using this equipment.

Nope, armor and weapon can be found, bought and crafted if it's ebony. Only deadric and dragon stuff requires you to make them yourself. I've bought boots, cuirass, gauntlet, greatsword and helemt from the whiterun blacksmith inside Warmaiden's.

*Note* Ebony IS the best material in the game that can be bought and found. It's only good it doesn't show up too early in large amounts.

Yea whos the argonian? I run into him and get 2-3 shot by his lightning the only way I win is by letting him drain his magikca pool... if i"m lucky enough to dodge a few lightning bolts. I've also been attacked by "orc" dunno why, and a hired thug which I think I read somewhere is because you steal items from NPC.

Someone already gave you the advice I was going to give. You can get your smithing level to 100 in no time at all if you make iron daggers. Once you have 100 smithing you'll want to make youself some Daedric or Dragon armor. The only time I use ebony is when I wear the Ebony Mail.

I'm at level 31 with over 50 hours of gameplay and the only Ebony items I've found were a sword, a bow, and a helmet. I had no desire to boost my smithing so at the moment, i'm rocking a myriad of different heavy armor pieces.

I'm level 26 and just found an ebony sword from a named Draugr boss. I only just upgraded mine and Lydia's armors to (selfmade) Orcish, but have been buying Ebony ingots and Daedra Hearts in preparation for the next equipment levels :hehe:

Somewhere around 20-25 I found an ebony battleaxe on a draugr deathlord. And I must say, the battleaxe looks AWESOME.

lv 25??
if you do the story arc your 3rd mission or so every guard is wearing it elven armor its a sneaking mission at some sort of party i killed them all ....not to mention i gave all my weapons and armor for safe keeping and didn't trust the dude smugling things in for me so i had no weapons, no armor ...I just became a W.wolf and they all easy my attack sends them flying across the screen its kinda funny ..even if their strong if you just keep doing power attacks they fall down and can't attack you

Be careful with him, pissed me off. Had three clones of himself on three pillars, whenever you got close to one he used fus ro dah resulting in you flying away and being disarmed. Plus his bow hurts a lot..
