Scientifically, it wouldn't make sense for us to be alone in the universe. Some religious beliefs would probably oppose the idea though.

Some religions have already given their views on aliens, such as the http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/popes-astronomer-insists-alien-life-would-be-part-of-gods-creation-828303.html. Surprisingly there probably would be less backlash from religious organizations than there would be by the general public that have those religious beliefs.

Why is that?

Yeah I missed the "n`t" in "wouldn`t" messing up the double negative. A good sign that I should go to sleep.

Statistical improbability that we are alone.

I looked at that and... Wow.

I, for one, responded with a massive laugh. It's interesting, nonetheless

Interesting maybe, but predicting the future is impossible. The future is always in motion, every single action and event has some impact on the future, big or small, and so it's impossible to determine future events with certainty.

What if the aliens developed a way to use electricity to communicate. Think an eel.. but far more advanced. That would be neat.

You there, stop trying to bring the Xivai to life. We've got enough problems without eyeless monstrosities invading our oceans and causing our heads to asplode from all the telepathic screeching.

As is commonly said in these discussions, maybe already said - I'm too tired to read the rest of the thread, since we and the alien life that is possibly out there have developed entirely separately for, for lack of an estimated number, a long time it would be totally beyond anyone's capacity to imagine how an alien would look. Which I find absolutely awesome. :D

i think its highly possible, teh idea of advanced aliens comes from the fact that we have not visited alien life forms ourself so any alien life forms visiting us would have to be more advanced to reach great distances. I think its possible that aliens have visited us, im not saying every UFO story is true, id say 97% of them are fabricated, but its highly possible that 3% of them are actual encounters.

Indeed, who knows, there might even be life forms able to survive in enviroments that would kill any human.

*Gasp!* Some sort of... synthetic spying on our planet... i have so many questions to ask!

Either way, back to the whole time/space thing. I still think your all looking at time differently than i am. Regardless the speed your going, from an omnipotent view of the universe, everything is happening at the same exact time. The "faster the speed=slower the time" thing is based off of what the person experiencing extreme speeds would have encountered. And if you were to go to the speed where you were traveling at light speed to the extent where time basically did not move, how would you yourself move?

I believe it definitely is, but some people are rather insistent.

I still think they would be closer to human form with obvious variants from their own evolution and environment. They could easily be able to survive on Mars or such. I am not saying they are on Mars, but that they could dock there and... etc... :P

That was another point I made. Most people imagine aliens to be humanoids (2 arms, 2 legs, able to walk upright, and basically resembling a human for the most part), but i think they would most likely not be humanoid.

I guess because of the usual steriotypical alien. But if we as animals are able to walk upright wouldn't there be a possibility that they might to? Also, I think we give them to much credit; maybe we are more advanced than they are. What do y'all think about that planet Nibiru and the star child and things like that?

It's believed to be planet x and somehow correlates with Sumerian culture.

Well its a possibility, but of all the creatures on earth how many are humanoid? Apes and us  but yes its a possibility.

I think there has to be some sort of life outside of earth, we haven't even searched everywhere in our galaxy, much less the entire universe. Its hard to say what we would find though, it could be anything from bacteria to something straight out of a movie or game. What I personally think is that it's possible that (in descending order of craziness):

1. We along with the other aliens haven't developed enough to communicate or make contact with eachother
2. We aren't advanced enough for aliens to take notice in us
3. Aliens tried to make contact in the past but we blew it :P
4. Aliens living among us :ninja:

I doubt we'll find out in our lifetimes though

I feel the same way. Aliens may be completely different than humans... Perhaps their form of intelligence would be unrecognizable as intelligence to humans? What if, instead of using things like language, math, and material technologies to achieve their means, they did something else?

Pretty interesting to think about.
