Lost a best friend.

I'm lvl 26 now and I've had the same horse since I first bought her outside of Whiterun. I was travelling in the Northern region of skyrim around Hsaarik Head before I encouted 3 wolves and 2 bears.. As much travelling as I'd done with that horse, she was backed to an ice-capped ledge and mauled by one of the bears, sending her falling down into the ocean.

As for the pack that attacked us. then didn't enjoy my lightning storm.. When I was finished with them, each of them, one-by-one, was tossed over the ledge to join my long gone companion. She will be missed. :(

And that is why my character travels alone, because she knows all the animals and companions that could possibly join her are frail and mortal beings destined to die because they are not controlled by me.

My friend's cat died in real life recently. She had a tumor and they had to put her to sleep.

I'm on my third or fourth horse, I get sad every time I lose one. First one I lost was killed by bandits, then a frost troll and then a dragon scorched it ;(

I take incredible pains to protect my horse and companions. Often leaving them behind and scouting ahead a ways. It makes me feel like I'm more inside of a real living fantasy novel, my role being similar to Strider's or a'Lan Mandragoran's. I just wish my horse didn't feel like running and charging the things I am in the middle of killing so much, and it's disturbing how she likes to graze around the bodies of my vanquished.

My heart sunk into my stomach. My mind was like "THAT DID NOT JUST HAPPEN." And Then I Goku'd the hell out of them. (Out of love though, Because my ass is with Mara and what not haha.)

And yes, I wasn't expecting it. It was just the wolves, and when I hopped off I was thinking "This is too easy." + 2 bears.. "What's going on?! NO HORSEY NOOOOOO!" .......... SSTTRRUNNNNNN BAAAHHHH QQOOOOOOOO~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~OO!!!!! *mournes*

God, all these stories are making me reluctant buying a horse at all. 1000 gold is a lot for something that appears to have an utter deathwish. I foresee a lot of quickloading if i don't want to spend loads of gold after every random dragon encounter...

They should make it run away for a distance as soon you get in combat, i don't want it near me as soon as i frantically and uncontrollably start swinging my axe at those pesky Ice Wraiths.

Well remember, friend, I had that horse for 26 levels. That's a lot of time spent with that horse around. Just have to prepare ahead of time. Look out for signals of danger in the distance by sight or ear. Clues will come prior to combat, most of the time.

Some people play this game to see a story unravel. Are you stupid?

By the way, my horse will run away and hide when things seem really bad. It attacks things like wolves, but when a dragon comes my horse runs far away and I end up having to hunt for it sometimes.

That's always good advice, but i still get a lot of random encounters i really did not see coming, dragons included. Hats off to you for keeping that horse alive for that long.

It's too bad there arent much bandit camps around with horses which i can steal for a test-ride.

My first horse got eaten by a dragon 10 minutes after I bought her :P
