But the this game "svcks" topic has been brought up but I just want to add to it.
And for fanboys who wanna bash or talk sheet.
I don't live in my moms basemant. (Bought a condo in jersey when I was 21)
I have a life (Just got back jigging bluefin tuna trying to keep them out of the mouths of Killer Whales.....GOOGLE IT WE HAVE HUGE PODS OF KILLER WHALES 30 MILES EAST OF HATTERAS N. CAROLINA)
I had a girlfriend ( Just dumped her..fishing season is starting)
and I have a Job (I own a custom home theater and home automation company)
To give a quick backround this is what I am playin on.
65" panasonic plasma (eff edge lit or local dimming lcd sets)
Mirage omd28 and matching center and satellites
ymaha rxa 3000 reciever (used as a pre amp only)
lexicon lx7 7channel amplifier bi amped the front speakers.
Velodyne Overture sub (it weighs 120lbs)
Verizon Fios 35.2 D 25.6 U Hard wired (modem is 2 feet away from console
So I have the latest and greatest rig within reason. My old setup sounded better but I sacrificed some 2 channel listeing pleasure for aethetics and a boost in image processing power.
So I played the beta/demo of this game and thought it would be the greatest new game to hit in a long time. Nothing beat cloaking running up on someone sliding and bucking them with the shotty. And dipping out before they knew what happened. It felt like a perfect mix of gears1 and MW2.
So when the retail game came out I was itching to play it. But after being burned by games like gears 2 (horrific compared to the first one) and massively over hyped Black cops ( Worst game of all time ) I had to wait 2 days for it to come in the mail from gamefly.
So once I finally got it in and fired it up I was looking forward to getting amped up with the viceral symphony that the beta supplied. But alas I was greeted to massive amounts of clipping as if I were listening to the New York Philharmonic Orchestra backed by 20 people playing the kazoo. I freaked out and thought there was something wrong with my 6000$ amplifier or possibly my front right 3000$ dollar speaker. Switching back to a cable broadcast told me immidiately it was the game.
So I dealt with that. Fired up a multiplayer game right off rip with one of my friends who said they fixed the lag issues from the beta. Well the first game I played there was so much lag if someone jumped off a green house it would show the animation 3 times (and it only happened when they jumped. 0 kills and 5 deaths later the migrating host screen came up I waited 30 seconds and the game ended.
So finally after a few failed attmepts in finding a second game I start running around aimlessly not knowing the map. I come up behind someone. whose running in a str8 line away from me. And I start unloading into his back (hard aimed) by the time he finally died i only had 22 rounds left in the clip (after hearing god knows how many hit markers) I figured Ok. Maybe it was lag. So i hit the back button and What?? I had 4 bars??? I said to my friend Man this is gonna svck, It just took half a clip to kill someone on my host.
Later that game I saw someone who was running away from me same as my first kill. I took aim. And right before I pulled the trigger. He cloaked. Or I should say completely disappeared. I was like WTF where the hell did he go. So i Max armored turned the corner figuring thats where he had to have gone. Saw nothing. Then bang all of a sudding he starts lighting me up from 20' in front of me.
Does the cloak really make you that invisible. I mean even on the best TV on the market (trust me plasma smokes any and all LCD's even boutique brands like NuVIsion (10,000$) check my review on AVS forums) I couldn't even see him. And after playing for awhile now LVL 15 I find that it really takes the fun out of the game. All people do is hide in cloak and when they see someone armor lock and just blast em to hell. And since there are such long sight corridors. There is no such thing as respawning and running to get into the action. You have to cloak. And walk as to not get sniped. Then uncloak and wait for the energy to refill. Seems like a lot of effort to me just to get from Point A to point B. And god forbid you shoot while cloaked by by sheilds.
Why did they get rid of the geiger counterish beeping of the proximity alarm. It wasn't overpowered as you still had no idea where they were coming from. But this version just makes a horrid broken guitar string sound. And when it goes off it is usually followed by a broken animation of me getting knifed in the neck.
Kill cams are a joke. Same as in the beta. If you get assasinated it still sound like an entire army is unloading on you. When there was never a shot fired.
The headshot bullet cam could have been cool. But lest be honest. A the sound of the bullet hitting you sounds lame. And the animation is in simplest terms BAD.
The graphics are horrible it looks like I'm looking through scratched sunglasses. I find i can only play a few games at a time before my eyes are bloodshot and hurting. Pop in Modern Warfare 2 after playing Crysis 2 and you'll see. Its not an opinion its clear from the moment you jump in a game. There may be tons of "things" and "stuff" all over the place. But definition detail and polish, don't exist. And there is no depth. And thats stationary, start running around and it gets worse as you move.
The game is so jittery and animations so non fluid. It makes climbing walls, ripping off turrets and meleeing disorienting. Once again pop in MW2 to compare.
The weapons so far don't impress. The Grendel it seems doesn't shoot after i get shot at least there is no sound of me firing and it doesn't . And with the game being so choppy tracking a running enemy is difficult at best. The pistols are pointless.
Has anyone ever power kicked a car. I mean c'mon really. It glitches all over the place. Or in a few instance goes right through the enemy player leaving me a sitting duck. Whats the point.
Why is it when i throw a grenade it ALWAYS shows me throwing two.
In all other modern shooters. I have my sensitivity set pretty low. As I'll sacrifice speed for precision. But with this game I have to have it turned to 70 just to have a chance. And with all the lag there really is no such thing as precision.
The sound effects svck, plain and simple. They are bland with no impact. Just like in All the halo games and especially black ops. There is no way in this game that you can locate someone by listening for their footsteps or their gunfire. The only game to date that does audio right is MW2. Thats the standard in which all games should be measured. Hit markers are clear and precise. Headshots make that satisfying "Tink" althought the gears one headshot is second to none. In a team tactical s&d game. If I'm the last alive. You better have ninja pro on. Nuff said. Even those over priced goofy multichannel headphones work a little bit in COD. But with their 10 cent drivers that are spaced half an inch apart they provide no channel separation. So in games like this they might as well just be five or seven shannel stereo. Cmon crytek If i put the perk on that makes me silent, ones who don't should pay a price(I shouldn't have to put on a proximity alarm) Sound is just as important to a game as its visuals. This game falls flat in every aspect of audio performance. I can honestly say in terms of audio quality, sound effects and immersion it is the worst I've come accross. And the first game dating back to my first game ever "Black Caldren" on a Tandy 1000 that had built in Distortion.
Why did they nerf the shotgun. They upped its fire rate but made it weak as hell.
The rag doll effect when you get killed is truly laughable.
What was the point of having two stage beta for over a month if absolutely none of the problems in the beta were addressed in the retail release.
P.s. I'm not a fanboy of MW2. I've read that people say the entire game svcks because of noob toobers at4's and quick scopers (I still cant figure out how to do that. LOL)but if thats the only thing wrong with it I'm good. Like any game there are things wrong with it. But it seems that the new trend is get the game out the door, recoup some capital, and then spend as few man hours ($$) to get the game that hundreds of thousands are forced to play because its the hot title (although still broken) and everyone on their friends list is playing to a quasi acceptable level. And then push DLC to make even more mooola (you know who you are TREYARCH)
Crytek don't do this
