I made a small mistake and now how do I undo this?

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 3:41 pm

I walked past some gaurds in the silver rush energy weapon store. They started shooting me! I ran out and the guy at the door keeps killing me. How can I get to a quick save before that? It saved automaticly outside the story and I keep getting shot! Also I want to go back and see the weapons for sail.

Help?

If you don't have a previous quicksave, autosave or normal save....you're out of luck.

They should all be listed in the normal load menu.

If you are on PC, there may be one other option since there is a backup of your previous quicksave.

You have to reload a save before they start shooting you, but they don't really sell anything good so you should just kill them and steal there stuff and not go through the trouble of re doing whatever you need to.

There has to be a way to load specific automatic saves!

There's only one autosave, isn't there? I think it saves over itself.

You haven't even said what your playing it on. Reload a previous save, or restart those are your only options if your not on the PC.

Well what do I do if I have 1 hp

I can't do anything.

And I don't feel like doing all the quests I've done in New Vegas.

What platform are you on? If not the PC, there's no way you can fix it. Your only option would be to restart NV, and then to not rely only on Autosaves.

If you're on the PC, your saves should be located under my documents/my games/Fallout New Vegas (or something similar. I don't have NV, but I'd be surprized if the save system was completely different than FO3.)

Eat a lot of food or take a bunch of stimpaks. If you have a stealth boy try using one of them.

The "Load Game" menu will show all available saves. That includes regular saves, autosaves and quicksaves.

If you are on a console, those are all that are available. Period.

actually there are 2 autosaves and 2 quicksave slots. (on pc at least)

in your NV savegame directory there is an qicksave.fos file and an quicksave.fos.bak file

rename the quicksave.fos to somethin different. now delete the .bak ending in the other files name, so it becomes the new quicksave.fos

the .fos ending files are your current quick or autosave files. the .fos.bak files are your previous ones.
if you havent quicksaved twice you still might get a save game without your problem

I'm guessing hes already went off to play another game. I'm presuming his silence on which platform he was playing on means hes not on the PC, so hes screwed. Let this be a lesson to all others, keep multiple saves and pay attention.

Or simply deal with the consequences of your action. It actually can be pretty fun. I my current game i got shunned in Freeside by insulting and killing a certain ghoul with an eye problems. I was tempted to reload but decided against it. There was so much additional dialogue in Freeside and other areas which i would have missed if I had reloaded.

Hows he going to "Deal with the consequences", if he insta-dies with 1 HP.

Think, very quickly, about how unwise it is to go to a gun shop with 1HP instead of to a doctor or a hotel?

the autosave should allow him to get away. He stated he exited the store, so ouside there is only one guard with a plasmarifle, which he should be able to avoid.
Remember that you can move a few seconds BEFORE the loading screen finishes, although you wont see anything. load autosave, strafe right and back during loadscreen, get around corner, use ANYTHING that heals (buffout in hc mode) and bunnyjump for your life.
or he could throw up vats and shoot Simons weapon out of his hand.
I dont think the autosave saves you a plasmaball 2cm in front of your face.

Im gonna try this now. at the van graffs.

EDIT: Set my hp to 1, entered store, shot one guard. all pissed.
exit store. autosave.
load autosave: in 5 tries i always got around the corner. it took simon about 1.5 seconds to start firing and about 4 shots to hit (=kill) me. enough time to use items, lower difficulty (well, a little useless at 1 hp) or try vats; i also managed to reach the door in the building on the opposite (though not always.). on pc its definitely doable. on console it might be impossible (dont know about controls and speed and reaction times).
Try it for yourself. The autosave gives you about 1.5 seconds free action.
