Main Character. Taking your time before any Main quest, fact

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 8:21 am

Im just curious how many people waited or are waiting to do any main or large quest line?

My character is lvl 43, he hasnt done any main quest (only like an hour) hes barely joined the college. He will join the dawnguard (probably before main quest is finished) Ive done some deadric quests however. I wanted to wait till i get Chillrend at its strongest point (level 46) then start doing the big stuff at "max" level. Being a Frost artificer as it is, game is hard, but its fun this way. It seems silly that the savior of skyrim should have to work at joining factions, so it makes sense to do main quest last.

This is kinda bragging, but i wanted to see if anyone else feels the same way, or is playing the same way and enjoying it.

I was extremely disappointed with Skyrim MQ so I probably will never do it again. I use an alternate start mod, so I never even go to helgen and no dragons appear in my game. I never finish thieves guild questline because it really doesn't have much to do with stealth, I rarely do the collage quests, because the progression is just too fast and I usually don't do the companion questline because I'm usually a thief or a mage, not fighter. The DB questline is the least horrible so I usually do it with most characters.

None of my characters have been to High Hrothgar or started the Civil War questline, and one of my characters was around lv 65. I'm planning on saving that stuff until the guilds are all completed and most of Skyrim is explored.

I got the game a few days after release, and still haven't done much progression in the Main Questline, although that is due to my tendency of deleting characters and starting over again when I get bored with the same playstyle.

You say that like it's an accomplishment. It really doesn't matter if it's the first thing you do or the last. It annoys me when people brag about not doing the main quest like their special. No one cares. You didn't do the main quest?!!! Whoop de doo! Want a cookie?

I believe he was asking a question and I was answering it. Thanks for your un-needed input though.

I didn't exactly wait to do it but I didn't power rush trhough it either. I waited for a while between each quest and I finished the Companions and Civil War quests before the MQ, and I still took my time with those.

I'm in not rush to do any questline, honestly. I tend to do more radiant quests and wondering to level up rather then following the storylines.

My lvl 38 assassin/serial killer has only finished the DB questline, he is halfway through the Thieves Guild questline (he joined in order to make money) and near the end of the MQ. I regret going that far into the MQ as the "save the world" thing doesnt really suit my playstyle, but since he was my first and only char I did it out of curiosity. Now I am waiting for Dawnguard and after that I'll start a new battlemage char so I can complete the MQ,Companions and College

I have done the civil war quests, but I hardly ever do the MQ. I don't like the idea of saving the world from a dragon. I like to be an evil assassin, not a hero.

250+ hours, no main quest, no dragons!

Only did the Companions line to the point where i could get Skyforge weapons and Wolf Armor.
I've been doing a lot of sidequests and dungeon crawls.

Oh, and i'm still Level 1 ...

On my main character I have 165 hours, i roleplay and have finished main quest, compaions, thieves guild and the stormcloak line... i have completed 80 quests as a whole, 181 misc quests, 18 side quests, i also like to just roam and do other random shiz with my main character, hes level 42 and i took regular intervals during the main quests/civil war quests/companions but found the thieves guild quests seemed to roll on and so i did them all in one go, whilst roleplaying ofcourse... I only have 165 hours as I have college regularly

I don't see the big hoo hah about people not finishing questlines or the such, i'm glad for those people if thats what they want to do, but sometimes it seems Skyrim to people is a 'Look how many hours ive racked in whilst doing the least things' competition

I will admit, i took my time and did not visit towns and cities unless needed (i have yet to visit Falkreath, but that is for roleplay reasons)

Who said people aren't doing something?

Doing something other than what is expected is not the same as not doing anything.
It's fun, maybe you should try it someday ...

I said that's what SOME people make it out to be, not the majority.

I can tell you for one i have read over your level 1 project a few times and i certainly admire that ;D

I also do have multiple characters where ive racked in a few hours without doing any questlines, i just roleplay and chill xD

On my first character I did no quests at all. I spent about 200 hours on that character. I retired her at level 42.

My second character did the main quest and civil war. I think I spent about 240 hours and retired that character at level 54.

My third character, my current one, is doing the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Currrently we at hours 190 and she's level 31.

My next character will do the College of Winterhold quests.

After that, I plan to start another character that does no quests at all.

My current and favorite character stopped after the Greybeards called him to High Hrothgar. He's conflicted on what to do. But he is in the Dark Brotherhood.
