even if possible, it presents a problem: can't do the main quest if the scale of the events in the world is too big or events interfere. like, what if they kill each other over, say, territory dispute and one of the dead is the essential to MQ progress? that's a big problem for RPG.

What the OP is proposing - at the level of content complexity of, say, Skyrim - would be obscenely difficult to do. That is, if you want the game world to actually function and generate even halfway-interesting plots and quests for you without immediately breaking them. It's orders of magnitude more difficult than what BGS has done with previous games. Of course, nothing is impossible, but it would be so ridiculously hard to make it work that it would be budgetary suicide to even attempt it with current software technologies. If it served some purpose outside of entertainment I could maybe see it happening, but since it doesn't there's just no way anyone in their right mind would put those types of resources into such a project.

I mean, it's not a new idea. It's the sandbox game model taken to its logical conclusion. We're just not anywhere near there yet. When we can write software that can answer the question, "ok, but is it fun?" we might be approaching something like this. Until then, don't hold your breath. ;)

Yes that's right , but i didn't say that making this kind of engine will be a prefect world , i have told before it will cause many problems but these problems can be solve .
I think a revolution in A.I is a big step to closing this kind of engine's . I like solo games and i don't believe in online games , because one day , when you want to play a computer game, that game will take you to its world i mean a world that is simulated very realistic , and in that world ,when you want to talk with the NPC characters , you wont be able recognize that he or she is a NPC character or is a real player , and that is a true A.I , and The most important thing in the Solo Games .
Of course both Hardware and software need a revolution for this kind of engines .

And a true real Role playing game is a world that you can decide to do anything you want .

Yes, you keep repeating that. But how? If you propose a system based on random events to eliminate the need for scripting, how do you keep those random events from causing problems? By scripting them? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the system?

Frodo67 ,how you can live in this world , how ?let me ask myself . how i live in this world ? in any second i can die , my heart can stop , a huge earthquake can destroy many people and i can die with them , a huge disaster can kill many people and i can die with them , but why i'm still alive . there is many probabilities but still i'm alive , why ? lets back to Normandy in year 1942 , many american soldier's died there in 6 minute near 17 thousands soldier died , and still some of them make there alive , what they think ? they ask themselves why i didn't die ,but my friend near me died ? you are taking about probabilities that something bad will happen ? in our real world , if you think like this , and if you just ask yourself i will die in any second how you can live in this world ?

(http://www.gamesas.com/user/512893-manuel/) Its ok , you can go there and try to stop the war , but if that didn't work then let it happen , its was an accord , now lets say accidentally same story did happened to me and i did change that accord by stopping the war , now this is a real different story .

you know i did play fallout 3 and at the end my character died , i have got very surprised by this , and i did play again .

Cold fusion and faster-than-light human space travel also have some problems, but those problems can be solve. Bethesda, are you working on this or what?

Yes in the future human can travel even faster than light , there is some theories for traveling faster than light and every they these theories grows .
One of them is entanglement in particles , now physicist can teleport particles which called quantum teleportation or entanglement-assisted teleportation
For now physicist are working on particles but in future this will be a revolution .
Another theory is Warping space and time .

The problem with invasion AI like this is that unless there are consequences and a system to counterbalance constant warfare, you're setting yourself up for too much mayhem for it to be fun. If it's to be done right, they'll basically need to build an entire 4x game for it to work. I'd love to see it, though. The time being parallel to our own just seems, frankly, pointless. I'd rather see all the different times of day while I play. You can do this on the PC, as someone said earlier, so half your dream may come true!

As a side note, I find it strange that the Universe's location is Earth.

In the Future when somebody asks you where are you from , what will be your answer ? England ,USA,France,German,Japan, in this vast Universe you want to say, you are from one of these locations ? i believe in Future people will say i'm from Earth
