Will I be able to enter markath hassle free aftere 1.4 patch. Just thieves guild missions. Left but its not easy to sneak about when 50 guards are chasing you down.

So pay off your bounty and you won't have to deal with them.

And how is that a bug?

The bug is that the guards wont let you pay the bounty and wont even take you to jail. Keeps looping. You obviously. Haven't come accross it. Even paying bounty hunters have no affect.

The only option you're left with is: I'd rather die than go to prison. Then kill every guardin the city but that will only raise the bounty to to a stupid level.

550 hours of playtime and I've never had a whole city after me. lol

The game guide says that if your bounty is large enough, you can hang out in the wilderness for a few days (in game time) and you will eventually be approached by a bounty collector to pay off your debt to society.
It also says not to use wait. It says to keep moving and he'll find you eventually.

I've never tried it but it's what the game guide says. Worth a try.

I'm not the first to experience this bug I've been reading. I've paid two or three bounty hunters in that area but with no success.

This happened to me just 2 days ago while I was doing one of the last quests for the Thieves Guild. I don't know what triggered it and I have no idea how to fix it. While this happened I was already at 100+ hours of gameplay and never had any trouble in Markarth.

I'm over 200 hours in and finding it very difficult to avoid markarth. Never ever ever buying Bethesda game again .how frustrating is this game. Would be fantastic if it actually WORKED!!!. Its like owning a porshe that wont start.

Hmmmmm.

Have you tried sheathing your weapon to see if you get the bribe option? Sometimes you'll have to sheath it, pull it back out again, and then re-sheath it before it works. I've done this a few times and the guard eventually stops attacking and gives me the option to bribe him.

Never had a whole city after me though. But try it and see if it works. How high is your speech skill? And have you found the amulet of articulation yet? High speech skill or the amulet may help to get the bribe option. Completing the Thieves Guild also puts the guards in your pocket as well.

Speech skill is at 63. No amulate though. Can't complete thieves guild until I can sneak in markarth. Tried weapon sheathing and just just about everything else. If the patch doesn't resolve it the house has a new coaster.

Wow 550 hours and don’t know **** about the markarth bug. Then I say your full of **** and have not even played a total 550 hours then pal. More like 5 hours then if you don’t know or never came across the Markarth Bug. It ****s to no end and you can’t PAY THE BOUNTY OFF YOU Can tell the guards to take you to jail NOTHING. YOU can’t do **** except kill the guards off. 550 hours and don’t know this BUG, I call BS. All 4 guys I have every single one hit this bug and that is normally only 100 or less hours into the dam game. 550 hours and talking out your ****side about how to do this or that when there is nothing you can do in Markarth when this bug takes effect. The bug starts after completing the No One Escapes from Cidhna Mine quest in Markarth... If you do this quest then after this if you ever go back to Markarth the bug is there. 550 hours in my backside.
Hell from the sounds of it you don’t even have the dam game...................

Well I have read the change log for 1.4 yet I have not seen any mention of any fix to this bug. So I would have to say NO.

WICKED!!!. What a joke! Game of the year indeed! Never heard of winning awards for things that are broke and don't work! It shouldn't be just the game where heads roll. I do hope that there is a global boycott in future for this poor excuse of a company. The thieves guild should be called Bethesda guild. ROBBING BAR STUARDS!!!

Whatever dude. I never got the bug. You don't have to believe me. And you don't have to be a complete [censored] either.
I sent my game file to Bethesda after they requested it at 375 hours in because of the hours logged. If I had a way to prove to you that I've logged over 550 hours, I would.
My PS3 ID is the same as my forum ID, Don't know if it will tell you the hours or not but you can see that I've got 92% of the trophies.
And if you know how to read and look in the crime and punishment section of the game guide it says exactly what I said about paying off the bounty. I never tried it, I was just stating what the guide said.
Just because you weren't able to avoid the glitch doesn't mean it happens to everyone. I'm sure plenty of people didn't get it.

At least I tried to help the guy out. People like you is why others don't bother.

This is actually a pretty easy bug to avoid in the first place - most people only encounter this after doing the Forsworn Conspiracy quest, helping them break out of prison, and then rampaging through the city. Yes it's a bug that the guards don't let you pay off your bounty properly, but if you don't attack any guards during that quest to begin with you'll never have a problem later on.

So yes it's perfectly reasonable that some people never encountered this bug if they never did that quest or just didn't join in the fighting after leaving the prison.

Yes, this is what I did. I helped the Forsworn escape but I didn't get involved with the massacre after escaping. I just watched until they all finally left the city. I forget exactly which redout they went to but it's the only Forsworn camp I can go to that they aren't hostile towards me. I do get comments from people in Markarth about how I was seen with them though "You aren't with the Forsworn are you?", "Do you have any idea how many died?", etc.

Well it worked fine for me both times I've done that quest. I've never had any problems with any of the guards in Markarth. So it's probably at least a contributing factor, but not the only thing.

Hey dryno,
Sorry man, was trying to help you out here but apparently Lord Raven is the authority on the subject. I guess if he can't do something in the game it automatically means no one else can and we're all liars.

Good luck and hope you figure it out.

Try to help, yet never understand the problem in the first place. If Markarth bug starts, it never goes away.... NEVER. YOU CANT DO **** ABOUT IT. All the advice your giving is going to do NOTHING. This has already been pointed out for ever NOW.
So why not look into the problem and read the BUG log about this problem FIRST and you will see that all your help will do NOTHING>>>>ZERO>>>>ZIP>>>>>NADA..

550 you did not get this bug, have you even done the Quest No One Escapes from Cidhna Mine? If so how did you complete it? If you completed it have you even been back to Markarth since?

There is currently a dialogue glitch with the Markarth Guards that occurs after the two forsworn quests. They will attempt to arrest you, and if provided any option other than resist arrest, the dialogue will repeat endlessly.

You make it seem like it's impossible to complete that quest without getting this bug. I've completed the entire forsworn quest line in Markarth on two different characters and both times have been able to go back to Markarth repeatedly without having any problems with the guards.

But yes, as cobrasno stated, you're clearly determined to shove off anybody else who has anything to say about how to avoid running into the bug in the first place so the thread is all yours.

I had the same exact issue. did the quest early on.... after the "glitch" you are forever screwed no matter what you do when trying to go in Markarth...

I did however finally managed to get around it which I posted in a previous post.. but the search is probably twenty pages deep... anyways... If you have not done the Civil war SideQuest join it! Join the Stormcloaks and after you complete the chain of quests ALL of the cities will have Stormcloak guards in them... including Markarth which before the quests is Imperial... so after the quests the stormcloaks will be there and you can then walk around freely...

Then just finish the game and dont play it anymore. I rarely even come back to these forums only to see how much of a joke it is... saw this post figured I would reply because this really pissed me off too...

Dude, what's your problem? I'm just trying to help the guy out.

And yes, I completed all of it.
I got arrested just like everyone else does during "Forsworn Conspiracy" You have no choice on that one.
When I went to Chidna Mine, I chose to help the Forsworn escape.
When we got out onto the streets, I didn't get involved with the fighting. I just watched.
They slaughtered all the guards, the Silver Blood guy, and the overseer who's ash piles are still in the streets.
Once the Forsworn finally left the city, everything was fine. No hostile guards at all.
I get comments about helping them escape but that's it.
And yes, I've been back to Markarth. Vindrel Hall is my main house in the game and has been ever since I bought it. I even married Muiri from Hag's End (also in Markarth) after awhile.
I even got the 3 Thieves Caches in town after completing the Thieves Guild quests.

Don't know what else you want me to say. I know plenty of people who have avoided this bug. Not everyone gets it.
And I'd appreciate if you'd stop calling me a liar. You don't even know me.
