maybe its just me...

There are three dragon skeletons lying in Riverwood and one right on the Companions' doorstep in Whiterun. I have around 12 souls in my inventory waiting to be used, but I haven't found enough words that I actually want to spend them on. Seriously, I get attacked by dragons all the time. I think the game might be subtly hinting that I actually do some of the main quest sometime.

Riverwood and the Shrine of Azura seem to be hotspots for me, I get attacked literally every time I go to either place.

Yea lol I agree about the main quest thing, I keep getting distracted by other quests and the Shrine of Azura/winterhold is defiantly a hot spot killed 3 dragons there.

I've finished the main quest, and there is still an infestation of dragons. Level 40 now, seeing them everywhere whenever I travel somewhere by foot - Maybe every 5-10 minutes.

I see them all the time, Sometimes the little whimps run off after a few minutes of fighting. I have only done part of the main quest and I have loads of Dragon Souls and a few shouts. The last fight I had with one, I also had to contend with bandits and some giants in the mix...............................Ahhhhh Great Times Indeed.

Indeed. I am level 14, and the only two dragons I have killed were one scripted one for the main quest and one sitting on a word wall, so probably also intended to be there.

Oh wait, I did encounter two dragons in the wilderness. They flew away though.

"Watch the Skies traveler" No, seriously, watch the skies. I've taken out about 5 now and I don't actively hunt them. They just manage to find me while I'm minding my own business picking flowers or hunting elk. I've been on a bit of a dragon hunting binge as of late, killed my horse and now I kind of want a little revenge. Just wander various areas, take a look up in the sky once in awhile. Certain places, abandoned cabins and the like may actually have notes and clues about dragon locations.

A sabrecat got my horse. Was so upset, i shed a tear as i cut that over sized furball to pieces.

Dragons typically appear after major events, such as after you've been to Bleak Falls Barrow and you're visiting most cities for the first time. It seems like their random roll is highly affected by the progression of plot. I'm level 31 now and I've fought about 3 "Dragon" spawns and maybe 4 "Blood Dragon" spawns. I just killed my first Frost Dragon as I was about to do the final mission for the College. Really annoying to fight him in Winterhold, but oh well.

I've also fought that first named dragon in Kynesgrove.

I am at about level 10, 21+ hours of play and have only seen one random dragon encounter. If the ones you see when you fast travel to cities for the first time, then I have seen three.
