maybe its just me...

Is it me or do you not encounter dragons randomly enough? I'm at level 23 and I've only had one encounter and I wonder around the outside A LOT. I have like 6 words I need to discover but can't because I never see dragons.

Have you been to the castle in Whiterun and spoken to the Jarl or his assistant?

Wow, I'm only level 19 and I've killed around 12. Must be down to randomness.

I'm sure you'll find some soon enough... Maybe it's due to progress in certain quests?

I killed my 4th one today (sort of). 3 shouts unlocked now, would be 4 but I'm keeping a soul in reserve for a certain shout. Lets just say I'm not much kop at archery...

From my experience you only really run into them after completing the main quest someways first. Try fast traveling to city outskirts/villages, that's usually when I get a random dragon attack. (Level 39)

Hi,

Personnaly I have not been visiting the Jarl...and I have already encounter at least 5 dragons...I fled for 2 of those and killed the other three Dragons.

So I guess Random is at work...

Are you serious? I feel like I'm drowning in dragons. Almost everywhere I go, they are there in the area. I carry around about ten dragon souls at all times, despite having found most of the shouts. I would happily switch places with you - in fact, I've decided not to start the MQ for a long time on my next playthrough so the dragons will leave me alone for a while.

No problem for me. Im lvl 20 and have maybe 8 souls I haven't used because I lack new words and still used another 8 to unlock shouts. U have to talk to the jarl in Whiterun to make the random dragons spawn btw..

"Watch the Skies traveler" No, seriously, watch the skies. I've taken out about 5 now and I don't actively hunt them. They just manage to find me while I'm minding my own business picking flowers or hunting elk. I've been on a bit of a dragon hunting binge as of late, killed my horse and now I kind of want a little revenge. Just wander various areas, take a look up in the sky once in awhile. Certain places, abandoned cabins and the like may actually have notes and clues about dragon locations.

I found a dragon on the uphill path to the see the Greybeards. It was during the day, probably afternoon. I reloaded and came back at a different time. I started from Ivengrad at dawn and did not see any dragons. If you did not see one when you went, try going back in the afternoon. The dragon appeared where a woman was sitting down in front of a shrine. I have seen two dragons when fast travelling for the first time to a city, Riften and Morthal. Did not see one at Winterhold.

after i killed the first dragon, I have had 5 random encounters in one play session. They seem to be somewhat common, but not too common :)

I have the same issue. I wander around a lot and look at the skies often enough. I've only encountered the one dragon after speaking to the Jarl. Saw another one but it flew away before I could really do anything. Is there away to get them to see / attack you when their in the sky? Like using a shout or something?

I agree, I've literally only seen one flying around randomly, and the other time it appeared after I came out of a dungeon. thats it...so annoying

I've found that the dragon population varies for each individual apparently because I myself have come short of dragon encounter as well. Level 24 and only six souls. Should have been seven but one was a dud and apparently was soulless! Strange but from some people experiences it seems that too many isn't fun either so I won't complain!

Ditto. This is where I generally will run into them. Fast traveling to small villages (not major cities) seem to trigger them quite frequently. Dragons will also respawn at dragon nests you've previously cleared, however you can only get souls from these dragons once. Random dragons you will always get a soul from.

I've encountered two at night actually! The first was a frost dragon near Riften and after he killed me I loaded and he became a fire dragon! The second was in the Whiterun plains but he did not engage me in combat even after I taunted him with arrows and shouts! He just mocked me! After some discussion, I found that it was actually Alduin cruising around looking to raise a new dovah!

Level 25, mid-30's hours of play. Killed two quest dragons, and maybe 4 others.

I've seen a few more flying in the sky, but it's either been at a distance, or they've persistantly circled overhead and refused to pay any attention to me, regardless of how many arrows & shouts I send their way. (And I've tried reloading a quicksave half a dozen times to try again. The silly things just fly overhead taunting me.)

There are three dragon skeletons lying in Riverwood and one right on the Companions' doorstep in Whiterun. I have around 12 souls in my inventory waiting to be used, but I haven't found enough words that I actually want to spend them on. Seriously, I get attacked by dragons all the time. I think the game might be subtly hinting that I actually do some of the main quest sometime.

Riverwood and the Shrine of Azura seem to be hotspots for me, I get attacked literally every time I go to either place.
