From what I've read it's closer to 1 in 175,000,000.
The CA state lottery (not MegaMillions) used to be about 1 in 11 million way way back when. I don't know if that's changed now...they changed the rules quite a bit since it started.
The MegaMillions, that's what I heard too...about 178,000,000 total combos to try to hit them all or something. Spend nearly 200 million to make 650million...unless you have to split it three ways (I hear at least 3 ppl won)...then you come out about only a little ahead - unless you take the lump sum, then you're in the red.
